Louie D's Mod's

Figured I would start a thread with my mods as I hate starting a new thread each time I get something I will be adding to this in the near future.

First let’s start off with the latest a few pic’s before and after of the new BS spoiler I just got. Found a great deal here on the groups. 1st I removed the old one and what a PITA to get the tape off, good ole fashion elbow grease is the best.

I plan on matching the color to the car as I am not a huge fan of carbon. Should have it painted this weekend if the paints get here in time, painted pic to follow soon. Excuse the mess in the garage I was on are building marathon with some planes.

Louie, are you going to paint the entire spoiler or are you going to leave the trailing edge CF to match your CF front lip spoiler?

I am going to end up painting it all Silver and front lip for a clean look.. The front lip was something I started and never finished. I liked the look of the black primer so sprayed flat black over it put it on with the thought of painting silver later.

It just a shame to paint the BS lip in person the carbon layup is killer. I know how to do layups in carbon and glass and the lip is outstanding quality. But like I said i want a nice and clean look.

Looks good Louie.
I'm also not a huge fan of CF but I got to say, it actually looks good on a silver car!

Did I miss something? You took off a silver spoiler, replaced it with a virtually identical CF one and are planning to paint it completely silver?

Why?

If clean look is what you're going for, painting the front lip spoiler to match your car color might not give you that look. My concern is, the gap between the lip and bumper must be perfectly even. If not, the un-even gap line will expose more with a color back ground then black back ground. That could look nasty. Something for you to considered.

Hey bud you are absolutely correct, I am going to see if I can tighten up the lip to the front bumper some more, if so I think it will work out just fine. If not I was thinking about putting the CLK63 bumper on it.

BTW did you get your parts in ?

dudeeee I would never paint over a CF black series spoilerrrrrr...so jealous you got one!!! I WANT ONE !!!! LOL

u should think about having the spoiler screwed on. I know of people who had their spoilers ripped off with the tape...it'll look a lot more flush too....

I'm tired with the carbon look too. I thought about painting mine a while now. Can't wait to see how it turn out. As for installation with screws, it might save your spoiler but it will be damages and no good anyway if one is attempt to steal it. As for flush installation, these are OEM part. It should fit flush IF you install the double side tape right. Mine has no gap what so ever. One most importance thing when install the double side tape, that the tape MUST fit inside the grove of the spoiler. If not inside the grove, the tape will add about 2mm in height and you will see the gap.

Absolutely correct. The tape "must" be the correct thickness. My fit is perfect as well.

I bought mine from Coin on the cheap painted silver, and had it stripped back to the CF. Amazing piece all around.

Well the weekend had some nice weather so I painted the BS spoiler. Here are some pic's, it is not attached to the car as of yet. Came out really nice now to tape it and slap it on. Enjoy
