Nop its a fuse issue!
Turn car and radio off.
Go to your trunk on driver side. Remove the cover. You will see a big fuse held by an orange connector. Remove the fuse Put it back in securely. Try the radio it should work.
Not sure why this happens but it happened to me a couple of times as well

I always thought our Audio 20 radios had a unique security code, and, in fact, when I bought my first (of 3) replacement, my dealer told me he could get it for me with the radio s/n, but they all worked immediately when plugged in.

CLKboi,
Your fuse tip saved my day. I was getting ready to pull the dash apart to search for loose connections this afternoon on my Clk 350 cab. I did what you suggested and everything was good again...after no tunes all week, my harmon subwoofers are woofing again!

Similar problem - no sound from radio/CD, but it did not say MUTED.
Tried the orange fuse, but no success. Was going to go through all the fuses and troubleshooting mentioned here:
https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...-618-70-a.html
nut decided to shortcut the process and just disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes.
Reconnected and the sound came back! Success!

This happened to my CLK350 the other day - no sound, like the mute button was pushed.
The next day, it was working fine. I'll try the fuse thing next time it happens.

Radio dead
thank you! Pulled the 10 amp fuse in the Orange fuse holder, made sure the fuse holder was solidly in place, reseated the fuse and voila! Awesome! Thanks again!

CLK280 Sport Auto 2008 with AMG Kit & Wheels
In case anyone else has the same symptoms and the above does not work. Problem on my CLK was that water had leaked onto the amplifier and half killed it. It would power up BUT the mute icon stayed on the comand unit no matter what. Had a proper diagnostic done at a specialist and they confirmed it was the amp. Got a replacement amp on ebay and plugged it it. Voila, all Ok ever since.
I did go the extra step and triple sealed the rubber trim around the boot/trunk so it never happens again.
