Does my 2006 CLK Cab have an emergency trunk release?
..actually it's a customer's car. It seems he locked the ignition key in the trunk, along with a small safe and three handguns! Don't ask...!!! Anyway, he does not have a trunk key and is planning to sell the car. Of course he'd like to retreive the items mentioned first, as well as the ignition key. Any ideas?

I assume the vehicle is locked, otherwise he could just unlock the doors and then open the trunk with the handle, or press the trunk release button on the driver's door. I'd call "Pop-a-Lock" or someone similar to open the vehicle.

I thought you couldn't lock your keys in the trunk. No? I know I can't lock mine in the car. The doors will not lock if the key is inside the perimeter of the car and the engine off. I thought that applied to the trunk also. Is that a keyless go feature?

Best is to get inside the vehicle and press the trunk release button.
(Emergency is the metal key or as above the release inside the truck.)
I do not think there is access to the trunk if the rear seats are removed...but then again you need to get inside the vehicle.

FYI, if you have to use the metal blade key to unlock the trunk from the outside, you have to turn the key and then pull the handle. I forgot about this on my C240 and thought the lock was broken!

Yup. I wondered how when I read this thread so I'd know what not to do. Open trunk, climb out, lock car, put key in coat pocket, take briefcase out of trunk, remove coat and place safely in trunk....
