And to answer your above question, when you lower the car it reduces the fender gap (as our bro toga demonstrated by using an excellent visual below), sice the circumfrance of the tire stays the same (ie, it is not being reduced) it will 'fill' the gap after the drop.
At the end of the day, it's your choice but if you ask me, drop it. Some drive luxury touring cars to improve their chances at landing something with very little gap - why drive a car that advertises that you don't mind it...?

haha....i dont have the time nor the patience sometimes. i spray wax the car myself from time to time thats about it.
