That's a MY2008 - it will be beyond the balance shaft problem range. Only MY2007 need to be checked - it was split that year, but earlier M272/M273 engines are in the range, later are not.

Rudeney! Is there anything I should do to have the car better\in safe condition.

The car is okay. I used to get p0025, and the other three solenoid codes. I replaced with the new magnets but didn't entirely fix it so I put back the old 2 magnets in front of driver side.
I replaced 6 coils and MAF sensor after that. Maybe I should just put the new 2 magnets and check again.

However, the car now vibrates slightly. It used to vibrates way more but now you just feel a very quick and soft one. the car has 180 KM. C230 2.5L 2006

Is there anything you advise me to do\check?

Thank you,

If the balance shaft is going to fail, there is nothing you can do to prevent it other than not starting the engine. Remember, even of those in the range, only a very small percentage actually fail.

car drives fine nothing really noticeable no vibrating, shaking, noise just check engine light.
maybe just the magnets? ordered them be here tom just..
could it be the balancer?
raced a infinity g35 yesterday usually beat them, but felt the car really lagging of the line was weird ?

1200/1208 (P0017/P0017) are definite symptoms of balance shaft failure. Replacing the camshaft solenoids (magnets) won't help. The ECU should be able to make appropriate adjustments to the camshaft timing to eliminate any issues with performance due to the slack in the timing chain. You probably have some time to get this fixed, but you will have to get it repaired. Eventually, the sprocket on the balance shaft will wear away so much that the shaft will stop rotating. it can also damage the chain.

WDBUF56X37B137769 is a MY207 E350 with M272 engine #610822. That is beyond the balance shaft range, but P0016 and P0017 are the typical symptoms for that. It could also be a stretched timing chain. How many miles?

I think that's too early for "normal wear and tear" to cause these errors. I think you need to get a proper diagnosis, starting with pulling codes with SDS. P0016 and P0017 each represent four different specific DTCs. None of them are "good news", but on pair is balance shaft failure.

Any M272/273 prior to MY2007 is in the range, after is not (s your MY2008 is not). Only MY2007 needs to be check by VIN/serial#.

I put the dampener at 305 degrees, and pulled all the cam sensors, and the circles on the cam gears appear to be exactly aligned in the centers of the holes where they are supposed to be.

What to chase now? Crank sensor? Cam sensors? I sure don't want to have the engine pulled if I don't have to.

Well, that's curious. Is the MIL illuminated, or are those error codes just stored? Also, when you rotated the crankshaft to put it at 305 degrees, did you turn it ONLY clockwise (as oriented when standing in front of the engine)? If you rotated it counter-clockwise just before checking the markings, that could make them appear to be in sync because it changes where the slack is in the chain. Also, I would get a diagnosis with a tool that reads native MBZ codes because P0016 and P0017 each represent four different DTCs. Of course none of those other codes is any better news as they are major jobs to repair, but at least you'd know if it's truly balance shaft failure (codes 1200 and 1208) or other issues.

This may end up being a double post...

i turned it a full revolution clockwise and stopped at 305 degrees.. After confirming the location of the circles, I gently rotated it counter clockwise to see if there was any delay in the movement of the cams like a stretched chain, and I saw nothing at all that indicated a problem. I rotated it gently clockwise and counterclockwise several times and watched both cams through the holes and there was instant movement of the cams when the crank moved. No delays.

i put an intake manifold on the car last weekend because the actuator arm in the front was legit broken. Cleared the codes with my Innova service tool and the lights came back on about 20-30 miles. Have cleared the codes several more times and they keep coming back. Otherwise the car is running fine.

Right now now it is showing 6 fault codes. Two P0016's, two P0017's, and two P2015's.

Hmm, the camshaft adjuster marks are usually very obviously out of sync with balance shaft sprocket failure. I think at this point, I'd use a tool that read MBZ DTCs and get the real codes. P2015 doesn't even have a direct translation to MBZ's DTCs.

07 E350 camshaft position sensor

Hi new member long time benz owner. I have read a lot of the threads on this and still a little confused. Vin#WDBUF56X57B098585 should be engine #542314 witch is past the affected numbers unless that has changed. Am I safe from the dreaded balance shaft replacement? I have not Rotated the cam to 305 Degrees and looked yet, I need bigger tools for that. So if the marks are centered, I think I am looking at replacing 4 magnets with the updated part#2720510177. It codeing a generic p0335. Says camshaft position sensor A circuit. Any elp would be greatly appreciated!

You are correct - you have M272 engine #542314, which is beyond the known range for premature balance shaft failure. It is still in the range for camshaft solenoid (a.k.a. magnet) failure. If you get those errors, you should replace all four of them. P0335 is a code for crankshaft position sensor failure.

Ok I will replace all four magnets. Any Particular web sites you recommend would be appreciated. So with that said do I still have sensor fai
lure or just magnets? Car has been parked for 6 months wouldlike to get back on the road.

Assuming you are in the USA, I've found https://www.genuinemercedesparts.com/ has good prices.

Keep in mind that your error code is related tot he CRNAKSHAFT position sensor, and there's only one. the Camshaft position sensors rarely fail. I'd clear the code and see if it comes back before spending the money on it.
