I think your car will look better than the one in the picture. The one you are buying has inset mesh around the center star. The one in the picture has shiny solid plastic flush with the star. I never liked that look.

I swapped out my grill for the same one, and am loving it. Like Yidney said, the one you're buying is more of the OEM look than the one in the pic with the solid background, making it look sort of cheap.
Good choice!

I don't get it !!!! Why even do a mods that trying to look like stock? You might as well put your stock grill back on.

We can also call it swapping out to get a facelift

I am with HlwdBenz-0 on this one to be honest... I DON'T like that grill, but any mod you do to your car is a mod, whether you understand it or not... Like i said I don't like it, but I like how people are modding their car to their own style... I'm more of a fan of OEM looking mods too, but this single slat grille makes it look like a lot, but not OEM...

Hey, I got your e-mail last week but the address back was invalid so I sent you a private message. I posted in your old thread a while back too.
Seeing that your reference pic is my car, I'm going to say no, that's not the same grill lol. The one I got is here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/280985791366
Here is a thread that goes through all the differences between the 2 grills. My overview is post #62 where I say "I'm personally not a fan of the Distronic grill look. I prefer the recessed mesh in the star BUT I really don't like the gap in the other one and the two little areas on each side of the star where the mesh is filled in. That just annoys me for some reason lol."

I choose to keep the center star free of obstruction, do lots of sitting in traffic here in LA and my 400e frequently has to run it's additional electric fans.
I also just preferred the look, though I agree that the area above the star on each side where the mesh is solid gives away that it isn't OEM.
Ideally they would make the frame from spring steel and use metal mesh. But for $180, plastic it is.
I was a little disappointed at just how "snap together" the OEM one is.
I am pleased with the look, I think it definetely gives an "SL" feel to the car. I drove an SL right before I bought the CLK. If the retractable hard top had gone down instead of clicking loudly and producing a "Visit Workshop" on the dashboard I was going to buy it. (Owner said "What, that never happens, I had it down yesterday, no problems !!!") Sidestepped that financial bullet and got the CLK.
A couple days ago I gave some friends a ride to the Madonna show. Wouldn't have been nearly so nice in the SL.
I got the grill from Ebay.

Another headache with the SL is the hydraulic ABC suspension system. It seems that it's good for about 50K miles before it starts having issues. And it's not cheap to fix, even DIY.

Same as the CL. My CL55 instrument cluster went out on me and it cost around $6,000 for part and labors. It was scary because I has no interior light what so ever at night and not know how fast I was driving.

Hey guys.... I'm getting in this conversation a little late here. I have to replace my front grill and I'm trying to decide which one to buy. The problem I have is everyone on here has either posted a black or white clk. Mine is a light blue. Does anyone have the black single fin on a clk that isn't black or white? I feel like if you look at the front end from an angle where you cant seen the lower black lip (fog lights area) then the black grill on a blue car might look weird. I tried looking through some of the pics on here but couldnt find one. Thoughts?
Choices: 1: Stock 3 fin silver
2: Black mesh single fin (either distronic look or not)
3: Silver mesh single fin(either distronic look or not)
Thanks

My advice is to check eBay - the sellers of these grilles often post many photos on different cars for the sole purpose of showing you what it will look like on your car.
