What's the "best" navigation uint for a CLK500 2004?
Hi all. I just bought a CLK 500 04/04 .I'd like to install a navigation unit on it. Is there any model more trustble ( plug & play and no error)?
I've seen some models like these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...:X:RTQ:US:1123
http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-MERC...-/290628793842 ( is it a MB original one?)
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Dynavin-D99-M...item2ec185cef7
Have you guys installed any nav unit?
Regards
Ricardo

Does your center console look exactly like the ones in the pictures or is it the faceleifted version? If it's the older version like in the pictures, any of those should work.

Thanks Yidney. My center console is exactly as this one :

I know all of them should fit but Im afraid of some electronic errors that I can't reset anymore.. lol
Do you have one in your car?

2004 CLK 500 with AMG Package, Not Convertible
Can anyone tell the part number, if I go with OEM MB navigation unit which would be compatible with my 2004?

Im not sure if it fits on our car. I also have a CLK 500 coupe, w209, avantgarde. I was about to buy one like that :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BENZ-Mercedes-w203-Navigation-DVD-GPS-C-Class-Radio-W211-W219-W209-W461-CLS-KlS-/270838605796?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item3f0f3d27e 4&vxp=mtr
However, it can't be used with the Bose amplifier and not sure if it works with the Bose speakers so I gave up. I'd like to know if the genuine MB is just plug & play in our car or we do need to adapt any wire..etc.

Yes, if I go with the Aftermarket, need to replace the Bose speakers, while OEM will be old, but plug n play.
Thanks for your help and feedback.

Anyway, lets make sure about the OEM one. I also prefer keeping the car with the original looking.

You welcome ,faran. Are you sure the OEM is just plug & play? I'd like to confirm that. If its I would buy one. The sellers of the aftermarket one said the Bose amplifier won't work but the speaker will. The only change is the amplifier ( the Bose amplifier will be replaced for the one inside the multimidia).

I need to do bit more research for an aftermarket one, since that's much more advanced and has more options.

Maybe anyone else has a better idea or input than this one?

The factory nav is not 100% plug and play, although its close. When I installed one I had to buy a harness from the dealership to fit it. The new harness can be plugged in, but due to access to the original to remove and replace I found it easier to cut and splice it in.
The Dynavin is great. Although its not perfect (I haven't found any factory or aftermarket system that is) its generations beyond the stock unit. The major advantages are the larger touchscreen and the android operating system, allowing unlimited options when it comes to navigation (including google maps as seen in Audi), or any other program needed on Google Play (like Pandora for example). Steering controls and some multifunction display information from the stereo remains intact. System looks factory (with a 7" display instead of 5") and is plug and play with the factory nav harness. It is not, however, compatible with the Bose amp.

Hi guys. I'd like just to make sure if I can replace my radio/tape for a OEM nav system.
I got this on my car:

Is it just plug and play or I do need any adapter..wire replacement, amp replacemet, speakers, etc.
Who has done that?
Thank you so much.

I can't anser whether it is plug and play, although the previous post suggests is is not exactly plug and ply but not difficult. However, if you are making the switch because you want navigation, I'm not sure that's a very good option. The pre 2005 nav was cd based, and I don't think you can get updates anymore. Maps and lists of restaurants and such will be way out of date. Heck, Mercedes did nto even recognize Starbucks in the newer system unil the 2011 DVD was issued. Anyway, you need to make sure about updated maps.

Oh, you threw me there for a minute when you said it was an OEM unit. I looked again. That looks like an aftermarket unit. Is that a Dynavin? I have no idea what the TV cbabilites of that are, but it ought to have updated NAV maps.

Now I'm confused because that does look like an OEM unit from that time frame? Is that picture from Europe or somewhere else? US cars don't have a TV button.

Its an OEM unit http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-2003-ME...item336aeca554
I made a mistake. The button is not TV. Its TEL ; )
The TV is available in the aftermarket one. However I would buy the OEM one once I like the car all original. Just need to know if its simple or not.
Thanks

No, you didn't make a mistake. That unit you posted a pic of above has a TV and a TEL button. The one you just posted has only a TEL button. So now I'm curious about the TV. Has to be another country. I wonder where the tuner was. I bet not in the head unit.
