VIS Diffuser Question

I searched and searched and couldn't find the answer here... not that we need more exhaust threads ~

I have a VIS diffuser coming my way to put on my 06 clk500 and I am doing a custom quad exhaust as expected. There are countless threads on the various options here for exhaust setup, but I never found a straight answer on this question..

Are the AMG quad tips of varying sizes? Will my current CLK tips fit under the left side of the diffuser? Are OEM CLK55 tips going to fit in this gap just fine? Are Clk55 and Clk500 tips the same on that one side? I've seen people run with SL quads, C63 quads, clk55 tips... any difference? I'd hate to order some tips that are too big, and I'd hate to get some that are too small...

Any input on tip selection will be appreciated

I think you get 10 inches openings on each side of the vis diffusered (someone correct me if I am wrong).
I have AMG tips off of a C63 and when I measured how much space they would take up it came out to like 8-9 inches totall on each side so you shouldn't have a problem with those or clk55 tips(asuming they are the same size or smaller?)

Okay thanks for the input! Yea, most of the c63 tips I see measure in just under 9". My exhaust shop is a wizard with welding so I have faith in him making the spacing look good no matter what.. Unless they are just too big. Doesn't seem like any typical AMG quad tips are going to be "Too Big", so I guess I'll just go with whatever pair I can locate first.

One other thing to consider, the factory tips match the factory rear bumper with the stick-out distance.

The VIS Diffuser sticks out a little +/-1" or so... so the factory tips will be futher back under the diffuser. So to maintain the factory appearance you may want to reposition the tips again so they have the right stick-out depth.... if that makes sense.

GL.

Thanks Betrezra, my exhaust guy pointed that out to me right away as we were talking about doing this.

The only open question I had was really on the widths (tips being too big), but it seems like any recent AMG quad tip pair can fit in here.

Hi,

Do you have the part number/URL on parts.com for the tips?
