Seeing that pic just causes cold chills.
I hope no one was physically injured. (I would be having all kinds of mental issues....)

No bad injuries
The wife is going to the DR for a sore lower back. Hopefully she will recover quickly. The other driver is ok. His airbag did not deploy but the entire front end was crunched on his 08 Matrix.

That's why when someone else is at fault, you hire a personal injury lawyer - it's all a nasty game, you just have to know how to play. And then take a long hot shower to wash the dirt away when it's over.

It is coming home (in pieces)
I settled on the car and bought it back. They will drop it off Monday and I will continue to look for a replacement. I am not sure what I will do with the old one.![report](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/report.gif)
I found one car that I liked but no I-pod Jack. My wife would not like that.
Time to check the forums for a solution to that.

The iPod jack is an easy DIY, and under $200:

Turning this into a rebuild thread
Well I got the car back and started looking at it. The shop cut the quarter panel open for inspection. I thought "I can fix this". Maybe someone here has some tips on how to repair it.
The body shop left the Job worksheet with all the part numbers in it - so I ordered the suspension parts from autohauz az. My plan is to get the wheel straight then go to the alignment shop.
Meanwhile I am trying to buy another CLK for the wife. I have not found a great deal on one yet as the dealers are rather unbending on the asking prices. One was going to lower the price from 27,900 to 26,900 and acted like that was a big deal.

Drives good on the spare. Once I get the new front wheel I will have someone drive it while I follow and see if she dogtracks. Then I may try to weld on a new quarter myself or find a cheap (but decent) shop to do it. Meanwhile the wife is unhappy as I am too cheap to pay the summertime price for a replacement car. It felt good to put the money back in the bank when my power plant is shutting down and the layoff is pending.[IMG]

I'll bet you can find a good shop that can fix that B-pillar dent without replacing it. I has a similar bend on my W163 and the shop pulled it and repainted it and it was literally undetectable.

Hot on the trail
May be getting another one soon - considered an E550 but wife did not want to spend the extra $ and did not want a bigger car.
Hot on the trail of another silver one with low miles

good luck finding another clk!
Its really unfortunate that it happened right after you you got out of a service/repair. And glad to see that your wife is doing well.
are the sway links the only suspension part damaged as opposed to the entire suspension unit?

Beat the door out and raised the top

Looks like I get to keep the wrecked car for myself. Today I beat the door out and got the windows to work. Now the top works! I will have to look for a frame shop to straighten it then I may bolt on a new door and break out the welder for the quarter panel. Anyway it is kind fun to drive around like this. The drywall screws holding the AMG bumper on and all.

You need to cover up that open fender or else you'll get dirt in the top mechanism. Maybe some cardboard and duct tape to do the job. I hear that the carton that Old Milwaukee comes in work well. ![Stick Out Tongue](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Seriously, I would protect that open fender. But now that you have it all working, it doesn't seem like such a bad job to repair.

Missed this thread first time around. Glad to hear everyone is OK
Would you do us a favor and post a couple of side on shots of the top mechanism that is normally hidden behind the quarterpanel, please? Just to see what it looks like in top-up and top-down positions.
Kinda an X-ray through the missing panelwork

After I got the top up the passenger window stopped working as it seemed misaligned - High in the back. I pulled the cable regulator out as it was making strange noises and loosened the top window track bolts, pulled the window up by hand and tightened the track bolts with the window in the right position.
The cable window regulator (passenger door) was a challenge to put back in and it still does not work. I did get the cable to hold the window up but had to unplug the regulator. This prevents the top from being operational. The regulator has two cables in it that run in different directions. The cables have a lug on them that I believe should fit into the window at the tracks.
I plan on buying a complete or loaded door and not a shell since I can't even get the thing to work.
