CKS Quad Exhaust Experience?

Has anyone had any experience with the CKS quad exhaust? I've searched and it seems no one, on the forums, has installed one on a W209 in over 3 years. Could not find any attempts to do so by owners in NA.

I am considering using the CKS product instead of a custom quad. Any input from experience or investigation would be appreciated.

No experience with it but damn, that's a heck of a lot of cash, you can build your own for a lot cheaper. I'm extremely happy with what I did on mine;

https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...ew-thread.html

I have since added Kleemann headers but the rest of the system remains unchanged.

I live in the UK, CKS do not have the best reputation here and that is putting it politely.

Hello, yes, I have a CKS quad exhaust system on my CLK500 . Since I had adjusted the two cutouts in the rear apron already on my previously grown FOX exhaust system , has not particularly good fit by CKS exhaust system . I had to be adjusted afterwards. The sound of the CKS is perfect, in the normal driving as a sport exhaust system, but if you then open the Trottle she hisses neat :-) Greeting from Germany

hi friends, in order to achieve more engine power, I have the day still a couple Kleeman Headers and Kat from CLK55 AMG attached. Now the engine management will be voted on. I'm excited to see what he has on performance. Greetings from Germany

Thanks CLK-M113 and SavMan. In the pic of the uninstalled CKS exhaust it looks as if the 90 degree bend on the right is crush bent. Is that the case?

I like the sound clips I've heard of the CKS. They are a bit hard to deal with however and seem not very willing to talk about their product to a potential buyer. Maybe their reputation precedes them huh...

Thanks Kevwood. I'm convinced of your setup, again.... I'm going to find someone I can trust to do the work. FORGED does great work, but they are so tied into Nissan they are extrenely hesitate to have a MB in the shop parking lot, not to mention the work bays.

I'm going to change the mid pipe back to 2.5" OD (about the same ID as OEM) pipe to the manaflow 12266 (instead of the 12267) and run 2.25 OD pipes to the tips. Since the cores of the 67 and 66 are the same (2.5 OD) and the upstream pipes, x-pipe, and y-pipe are all 2.5 OD, I'll keep everything the same size to the muffler (turburlence management).

I'm hoping the 2.25" output will give me a bit more "crackle" in the exhaust note. Also hoping the x-pipe already in will negate the need for a 11379 or 11386. Adding another muffler would neccesitate work on the section forward of the mid pipe and I think that part of the exhaust is currently excellent.

I plan to leave the secondary cats in place. I may be a bit overly concerned about removing them since I have the tiny kleeman primary cats. I assume the seconadies do some cleanup when they eventually get hot enough, and may help to keep my neighbors from rebellion. The resonator is already gone.

Will let you know how it goes..........

Hello, no, with the 90 degree bend everything is in order. You see him so well in the picture, where the exhaust system is on the ground. Regarding contact with CKS, I can only say that I had taken kontact via e-mail and I always get answer. I had also asked for a more joyful throughput catalyst, of course, he wants to sell his goods. Greetings from Germany

Ok, here is a link to the pics and short sound clips of the new exhaust. The tips will need to be properly aligned next week, but I am very happy with the sound.... The drive home was a blast....

Let me know your thoughts. I will get more pics and sound clips next week. I will try to get someone to film a couple of drive by runs.

The setup is 2 vibrant resonators - magnaflow x-pipe - magnaflow 2/2 14" muffler - pipes to tips. The seconadies were replaced by the vibrant resonators and the x-pipe was left in just because it was part of the old setup and I figured it wouldn't hurt anything (as opposed to saying I would sell it and then trashing it next year). 2.5" 18 gauge pipes are used from the end of the primary pipes (2" I think) to the end of the system.

Sounds good.

After I get back in town I will have the installer finish the alignemnt of the tips and I will get a couple more sound clips. Hopefully I can get one with the car accelerating.

That is a clean install! So, no cats? Just the 2 resonators? Got me thinking now. Except I have a cabriolet. Won't be quite as clean, with the extra supports in the back.

No secondary cats. Such as they are, I have Kleeman primary cats. The resonators are Vibrant.

I was quite nervous leaving my car for 5 days (these guys have numerous performance projects in progress all the time), but was very pleased with their work and care. And was just too happy with the sound and the way the car responds.

hi, sorry for my bad english :-( The CKS Quad Exhaust system is of course to it. I have removed the post-catalyst. Resonator? Which part is called the resonator? Here in Germany the CLK exhaust system with the following designations (front to back), manifolds, main catalyst (or pre-cat), post-catalytic converter, front silencer, rear silencer . greets Burner

No problem Burner. Your English is infinitely better than my German. I see now. You removed the secondary cats (post catalytic converters). I would guess that opened up the exhaust note more on your car.

I think what I referred to as the "resonator" is what you refer to as the "front silencer".

Ok. Everything is finished on my exhaust. I am very pleased with the result. I got a GoPro as a gift and decided to stretch my technical abilities and post to YouTube. Let me know what you think.....

Wrapped my exhaust a couple weeks ago due to concern with the heat, primarily the fuel tank but some concern with the effects of the heat on other components under the car (the differential being the most crucial and bushing and joints, etc follow).

I noticed the smell of gas when I would fillup on the way home and then park the car in the garage. The wrap (DEI titanium) worked fine and reduced the heat enough to prevent too much heating of the gas tank. No gas smell after 20 mile drive and fill up.

Because it still concerned me a bit, I bought a Heatsheild kit and wrapped the pipes from the muffler to 3-4 inches past the differential. This is some pretty neat stuff. It wasn't hard to install and although the metal cover for the insulation gets very hot (like any metal) but you can hold your hand within 1/16 of an inch and barely detect the heat. The areas around the pipes are now only slightly warmer than those not near the exhaust pipes.

I am totally comfortable now that I'm not just waiting for the car to explode.....

These folks make it (http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/home)
I bought it from Summit Racing.

Great stuff. I have a question in to them; can the exterior be painted without adversely affecting its ability to greatly reduce radiated heat. If any of you know, let me know.
