Insatalling a navigation system..pros and cons?
Thinking about putting a system in place of the HK system on my w209. Don't get me wrong, I love the HK system, gets a great sound, even with the ipod. I am now researching the oem nav system that could be installed.
Any advice on making this switch would be helpful.

Unless you're getting that oem NAV unit for free, I'd go aftermarket. For the price of a good quality used oem NAV system and (don't even ask about the price of a new one), you could get a very good aftermarket touch screen with iPod, USB, Bluetooth, etc.

agree with Rodney! the oem system is outdated! i have the oem on my 350 and think its a POS, thats why i was not upset that my 550 does not have one. i plan on doing an aftermarket one which mirrors my android.

The OEM nav system is garbage. I decided to go with the Dynavin. If you know Android and you can deal with a couple headaches until everything is set up smoothly you can get it EXACTLY the way you want it and you have quite a few choices of NAV software. I wish the processor was a little faster and the screen capacitive but I still like it better than the standard Pioneer/etc offerings. For me, customization if king
