Mileage Display - What is the other mileage number than the main odometer?
Hello Everyone,
I am a new owner of CLK, just brought a pre-owned MBENZ CLK240 W209 (2003) 2 months ago and I am from Hong Kong.
Thanks everyone in the forum for many nice information so that I have learnt many things regarding CLK, especially how to maintain the car in good condition as well as DIY maintenance procedures (although I still not brave enough to try it myself
) 
Besides, I have a question to ask about the mileage display in the Instrument Cluster - there are 2 numbers: 1.) main odometer in the bottom part of the display, 2.) a relatively small number of mileage which is always upper the main odometer. The main odometer I knew that is how many mileages since the car was born (if luckily that it wasn't be reset), but I really don't know what is the 2nd one, as it already have "After Start" and "After Reset".
I already did some search in many places like the Owner Manual, Google, as well as searched around the forum but without any hints.
Do any one know what's the meaning of the 2nd mileage displayed in the Instrument Cluster? As well as how to reset it.....

That is the "trip odometer". It's just an extra mileage counter you can use to measure mileage. It can be reset using the stalk on the left of the cluster. You will need to put the MFD on another screen besides the "after start" or "after reset" or else it will reset those readings instead.

Actually, the "after start" trip status screen will be reset after 4 hours of shutdown. the "trip odometer" (the displayed number in question from the OP) only resets via the stalk. Basically, you have three "trip computer" values: The simple "trip odometer" which is just a mile display that accumulates until you reset it, the "since start" trip computer display that includes miles, avg. speed, and avg. mpg that is reset either manually by the stalk or after 4 hours of shutdown, and finally the "since reset" trip computer display (miles, avg. speed and avg. MPG) that is only reset manually by the stalk.

not really, but similar.... this is just my 2nd car 
my first car was a very simple car which just have 2 odometers.... and i had confused by CLK's "after start" and "after reset", i thought that the 2nd odometer is replaced by "after reset"

Most all cars made in the last 30 years or so have a "trip odometer", which is the one in question. Manu cars also have a "trip computer" that gives you distance, time, avg. MPG and av.g speed. Modern MBZs have two trip computers that track this for "after start" and "after reset". The "after reset" trip computer statistics can only be reset manually with the stalk. The "after start" trip computer can be reset via the stalk, or after 4 hours of engine-off time. This is not functionality that most cars have.
