Phone confusion
Ok I looked at threads and I am still confused. I have two 07 CLK550s my wife's old wrecked one and her replacement one. She would like bluetooth or hands free phone in her car. I looked in both car's center consul and saw no place for a puck ( I am assuming it is at the rear of the compartment) Press the button inside the consol on the NAV equipped (wrecked car) and Verizon wireless comes up on the radio - her replacement car does nothing.
How can the car call Verizon if I don't have the puck? am I looking in the wrong place?
I thought about moving the NAV to the other car but I don't think it is worth it cause we just use iphone maps.

I assume you pressed the wrench or "i" button inside the center console? Those are part of the telematics system (called MBrace or TeleAid) This system has its own built-in cellphone transceiver and are totally unrelated to the hands-free cell phone interface. If you don't have the dock connector for the Bluetooth puck in the console, you have two choices for an integrated hands-free cellphone interface: about $1000 for the OEM parts as a DIY project, or about $600 for an aftermarket adapter.

I have no direct experience with the aftermarket systems, but I have found 3 or four on eBay. I found a Viseeo unit (not the Viseeo puck, but a control unit) that seems promising, but it's a Eurpoean part and no one seems to be able to confirm it will work in in USA cars. There is a http://www.ebay.com/itm/Grom-MOST-USB-iPod-iPhone-Android-Bluetooth-Car-kit-Adapter-Mercedes-Benz-MBO-/380724696551?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item58a4f5d5e7&vxp=mtr, but it doesn't use the OEM phone buttons - instead is does some sort of emulation of a CD changer. It says it works, but I don't think i want to have to memorize some alternate buttons for making calls.

I'd look on ebay for OEM parts.
Try and look for cellguy...he is on ebay and can tell you exactly what you need and may have what you need.
If not, there is plenty of stuff on ebay from others. If you send notes to the sellers, they can help confirm part fitment.
Depending on what your car came equipped with, you may need a few parts...one part is the bluetooth adapter for sure.

Yup, that's him. I didn't want to post his name, but yes- he actually met me in a town between OC and the inland empire and installed my equipment. He is a good guy and you can trust him. From your photo, looks like you are ready for oem.

I almost pulled the trigger a few years ago to buy one of Cellguy85's kits and install it myself, but I was having a hard time justifying $750 just to talk hands-free in the car. A few months ago, I thought about it again, and now i see his kits are around $1K! I am sure it's a matter of the parts becoming more costly as the cars that need them become older and there is less demand resulting in limited production.

So what I do have is hacked wiring
Just got back from having Keith install it. He did not get the microphone to work and spent a lot of time swapping components and testing until he found a cut
wiring harness in the overhead consul. He thought the mic was in the light pod consul and that I could swap it out with the wrecked car. I found the wires went to the rear view mirror and after some searching it looks like the mic lives in the mirror.
I did swap the light pod / speaker assembly and it did not work.
Fished the cut wires out from the mirror and tried to strip and splice them to the connector but that did not work. Tiny wires in thick heavy shielded insulation.
Now I will have to figure out how to pull the mirror and swap out the wiring or the whole thing - hopefully then the microphone will work
P.S. I also found out the top will not go up with the overhead light pod assembly unplugged

interior mirror swap cut wire pics
Fixed and works great! Swapped mirrors and new mic worked - no more hacked wiring! Had to swap a couple wires in the trunk that Keith had not put back in the correct configuration when trouble shooting. He shot me an e-mail and installation instructions so I fixed it. It was still worth meeting him for the installation since I would not have know where to start when troubleshooting it
First picture shows the wires that were cut and the damage on the mirror from pliers that someone used. I placed a punch in the small hole on the side of the mirror mount and rotated the base per a post I found.
Next pictures show how the overhead console mounts were broken from not removing the two bolts under the windshield trim

Hate to go all redneck on the nice car - but hey it works! Used a longer screw to bridge the gap of the broken plastic piece. Don't tell my customer (wife)

swapped over Nav head unit
After getting the phone to work I decided to swap over the Nav from one car to the other since I had both cars for the day. Followed Rodney's instructions on this site.
I will have to go back in and add a Nav antenna but the stereo and phone work. Having the larger display is nice for the phone book and the phone controls are easier too.

I order one of Keith's kits and with his help over the phone got both bluetooth phone and voice control working in my 2006 CLK500 Cabrio, which was pre wired. The bluetooth paired quickly with my HP Glisten phone (after I read the pairing directions and calls are very clear. Sound out to partys called is very good even at interstate speeds. The voice comand is convenient and works as advertised. I would strongly recommend Keith. He knows what he is doing. Keith's email is cellguy@live.com.

You could be correct, but then you wouldn't have a Mercedes-Benz system anymore and as many of the electronics work through the Comand I don't know where in Japan, Korea or China to sort out issues that pop up after ripping out the OEM system.
