I randomly stayed tearing a story if chattering noise when I step on the gas when driving yesterday. I opened the hood and saw a cracked hose that runs down by the alternator. It was also wet. I don't know whether the issues are related or what the hose it is. Anyone have any idea?
That's just a harness protector IIRC.
Let's hope you are correct and just some electrical tape will cover it.
Do you have any clue what the clattering might be though?

Is that actually cracked, or supposed to be that way? But yeah, that's just covering some electrical wires, it isn't the source of noise, nor is it leaking. It does look like you have a pretty good oil leak from your valve cover gaskets though. Time to replace those. But again, that won't cause a noise. You'll need to be a whole lot more specific about the noise before we will be able to guess at that.

Make yourself a shadetree mechanic's stethoscope by cutting about a 3 foot length of garden hose. Hold one end to your ear and the other end to different areas of the engine that you suspect could be the sourece of the noise. When you find the right component or area you will hear it louder through the hose. investigate from there. Its a start.
