Temperature and Transmission Question

Sup Fellow W209 owners and guest trolls

i've been doing some research on all forums regarding to this issue.
i just got a 2005 CLK500
i want to know the engine temperature that it stays on..
so far i read other forums saying, it hovers at 90, does that mean it moves
slighter over 80 and just below 100 mark? like most of the time its constant but its not unusual for it to slightly go up or down... is this what you owners
experience as well? and its normal right? no need to **** in my pants or anything like that, do i?

second question, like i said i search other forums and this one before i post my own

i hear people saying my 2005 CLK500 is the 722.6 transmission cause its the first year of it being a 7 speed automatic transmission..
but the engine is M113 which everyone say is a solid engine..
so my question, is there a flaw in the 722.6 transmission?

any help would be appreciated!

On the M112/113 engine the standard thermostat starts opening at 87 deg C & is fully open at 90. The temperature can vary slightly but is generally fairly constant at 90 deg C. If fluctuations are large you just need a new thermostat.

The M272/273 thermostat is electronically controlled & allows temperature to fluctuate between 85 & 100 deg C.

The 5 speed 722.6 transmission has no problems other than the $10 electrohydraulic bush which sometimes leaks fluid.

To the OP, do you have the service records?

If not, a transmission fluid change is highly recommended. At the same time, replace the electrohydraulic bushing.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Your MY2005 CLK500 should have a 722.9 7-speed transmission. The 722.6 is the 5-speed transmission from prior years (and still used on V6's until MY2007). And yes, earlier models of the 722.9 "7GTRONIC" tended to be more problematic. Most common issues are a bad speed sensors, which requires replacement of the entire valve body and conductor plate, and this (supposedly0 can only be done by the dealer as it has to have official MBZ code downloaded from a "live" connection to the MBUSA mothership. The other problem the earlier 722.9's had was a bad main fluid pump that can blow and caus e"catastrophic failure". Of course yours may be just fine as only a small percentage actually fail.

Listen to Rudeney on MY dates that things changed for the US. The US did not do as ROW.

Very early 722.9 Transmissions that gave conductor plate problems required valve body replacement. Later units only require you replace the conductor plate & flash the old valvebody calibration data to the new TCU.

yes, excuse my ignorance , its the first year of the 722.9 7 speed for my 500

thanks guys
so i guess best way is to bring it in to inspect the car basically..

as for temperature, mines stays about 90.. pretty constant,.. but at times i see it go up 1 bar.. and goes back down... from time to time.. so i m guessing that is normal
