looking to purchase a 08 550

Hello, this is my first post. I am looking at an 08 with 50K miles that seems to have some of the original parts upgraded. Seems like it has AMG brakes on the front and has 19 in AMG rims ( not sure if they are knock offs).

Anybody know this car?

How could I tell if the engine had mods ( would prefer all original engine). Why would you upgrade the brakes if you don't plan to track the car? I love the mods wrt looks but want a reliable daily driver.

car is here:
http://www.bydesignautogroup.com/200..._216178623.veh

Price seems reasonable, I just do not want to buy someone else's headache. The CarFax indicates that quite a few dealers could not sell it.

thanks

I'm fairly certain those are replica wheels. Nothing wrong with that if you don't mind the style. Replicas are heavy, but so are authentic AMG wheels.

The calipers look stock to me, but someone added the amg logo. The AMG logo on the ashtray is also not stock, so the previous owner was definitely a amg groupie... thankfully he didn't add the ///AMG on the trunk lid, so the car avoids total poser status.

There also looks to be aftermarket carbon fiber front lip and spoiler.

All in all, looks like a nice car to me.

wrong bumper

that car did not have bi-xenons unless both the lights and switch were changed out.

take a close look at the drivers side bolster

replacement seat cover is only like $900

my .02 is frankly to look for another and preferably an 09

So your saying that the front bumper and lights were switched? I did not see the drivers side seat issue - but i am guessing from your comments that its worn.

What is the diff on an 09?

no idea what the difference between 08 and 09

other than ones a year newer and the last year of the run

check the stitching on the side bolster. maybe its not 900 for that model but it won't be cheap if it needs to be replaced.

as them if the bumper light squirts work!

That car is kind of low on options, looks like all it has is P1. No Keyless Go, and no Bi-x are deal killers for me. Add in the cheesy AMG badge, blacked out markers and wheels and it makes me think a younger person owned it which I personally don't care for.

look for a model.. with at least the bi xenons the halogens headlights make the car less appealing , specially with the amg badge by the ashtray and the amg rep wheels i rather buy a car stock and add what i want 2 it i would look elsewhere for a clk just my opinion

good looking car overall! im so jelly, i wanted the clk550 in white but it was so hard to find a 09 in white!

you can always get some depo projectors and install them, will look very nice, in your choice of black or chrome.

The brake calipers look stock. The replica rims look... Replica. The spoilers are aftermarket. The black side markers are eBay, as are the 4200K halogens. The AMG stickers leave a bad impression. The previous owner was obviously an "enthusiast" and you have to wonder what ECU tune is on the car and whether it spent its life with K&N air filters or something "aggressive" in terms of filtration. So you know what suspension components were modified? It's up to you but I'll quickly run far away from this car, especially if you are searching for reliability. I personally would prefer to purchase a stock car maintained by the stealership with full service records. Do you know if the transmission was flushed at 40K miles
