Key Not Working
The key just stopped working. I found out it works occasionally when I put the key directly to the drivers side door. The key still starts the car and the unlocking and locking works when you press the button on the dash.
Can someone steer me in the right direction to get this fixed. My tech said start with getting a new key.
My friend has the same year but a CLK500.. and he has had this issue for almost a year now. It seems its a common issue on our cars I guess.
Thanks for the help in advance.
Yes the red light blinks on the key. Im thinking and hoping its the circuit board inside the key. I do not have a spare so Ill be getting a new key ASAP. Fingers Crossed it fixes the problem.
Ill definitely try the the global setting.
Did you recently have windows tinted? Sometimes when those guys run knives around edge of rear window to trim the tint they cut the antennae cable.
If you dropped the key previous to it dying, you may have broken a solder joint on the board. Sometimes an entire component will get knocked off. Open it up over a piece of white paper so if anything falls out you will see it.
I might have dropped the key, I cant recall. Ill try taking the key apart.
