Lesson learned: MAF problems

I hit 200k last Oct so I had my mech change my MAF. Nothing was wrong with it just figured I'd improve my performance and my engine was idling a little rough.
Well that triggered an EGR valve code and hesitation and stalling. They tested the EGR valve, found nothin wrong so replaced the MAF again (warranty), that wasn't the issue and my mech finally replaced the EGR valve and that seemed to have solved it.

Seemed fine until last month. Car started hesitating and stalling again. Took it to the dealer this time and they got a code for the MAF (P2004-004 B2/5) and they replaced the MAF. Car seemed fine for a few weeks and then same problems started again earlier this week. Back to the dealer and they got the P2004 code again. Replaced the MAF. Dealer says must have been a bad part.
So that's 4 new MAF's since November! So they either have a run of bad MAF's (which I've read elsewhere - someone had a a similar issue), or the dealer's techs don't really know what's going on. Supposedly they had their sr guy look at my car this time.
The good news is I've been itching for a new car so if the problems come back I'm pulling the trigger. The CLK gave me 11 good years and 200k miles though up until the past 6 months. So I guess I can't complain too much. So if it happens again, I'll have the dealer figure it out a last time, they'll prob replace the MAF again, and then I'm gonna "throw it in the gutta, and go buy anotha".
But as I stated, and many have said the same - don't mess with the MAF. I regret changing it the first time for no real reason other than high mileage - and it never solved the rough idling either.

Did anyone test the wires or the plug going to the MAF? With an ohm meter from end to end or in various locations? 11yo wires and connectors that get messed with may have a poor/cracked/weak connection. Over time current can weaken a poor connection and keep causing the same issue. Or maybe wires/plug are cracked and arcing, destroying the MAFS's
How old are your air filters? How is the integrity of the air box? Debris also messes up MAF sensors.
Edit: and what prznskillz suggested
Just some thoughts.... from experience.

The dealer did check the both the 5v signal wire and the 12v power wire. They also checked for unmetered air, no signs of leak. If it happens again though I should make them swap out all wiring to the MAF. Filters are new from the last MAF replacement.

EDIT: Oh, and buying a first-year MBZ model, no way! Wait a year or two and the W205 should be fine.

Thanks fr the feedback. That's crazy about posting photos of your own car. Seriously? wtf? Yeah I'll read up on the IS. Haven't done much research yet, just like the way it looks. End of the day I'll prob stay with a Merc cause the wife says so. My strategy right now might be to lease an E class for 3 years and then buy a 2018 w205 lol. I admit I'm not totally sold on the w205 rear end....from some angles the car reminds me of an infiniti G sedan.
