Adding backup camera Comand headunit?

https://mbworld.org/forums/r-class-w...ml#post3550555
Seems like if you have the navigation comand headunit one can use a backup camera if you can unlock it it via STAR...
Looks to be pin 1 and 7 as pictured below.
Just wondering if anyone has done this... doesn't seem too bad and would be great to have a backup camera feature. Does anyone know the engineering mode to get into comand as far as the buttons that need to be pressed..etc?
Thanks,
-Nigel

On the SL, this was option was only available in the "developer mode" adaptations, meaning only the Chinese clone systems can do it - not dealers. But checking the CLK's options, it appears to be in the standard adaptations, so it;s possible for a dealer to do, but of course it would be preferable to find an friend or indy with SDS.
This is what we found on the SL:

So, if anyone is interested and tries this, let me know how it goes!

It's pretty oem looking. The only thing I would have changed was give the camera to a body shop guy so they could have painted it the exterior color of the car, which would have made it blend in perfectly.
But it works great.

I found some more comprehensive wiring diagrams and put a copy here:

Also, looking at Nigel's photo, what is that small white connector, almost on the top?

so I currently have the green fakra connector on my US w211! All I need is that FAKRA-to-RCA pigtail , programming and camera ? Nothing else beside installation?
I would appreciate it a lot .
this is my unit

Can be expensive to get it and very rare plus you need to find all of that wiring that goes with the tv tuner.
I found another solution by purchasing a module but needs some retrofitting and this is done thru original head unit. If interested PM me and will give you all the details
