CLK 350 has Non-Cranking Starter, just click

Non-Cranking Starter, 2008 CLK 350 118,000 miles 1#, the battery was drained, 2# charged but no click from stater, 3# after sitting for days starter clicks, no crank, not drawing down the voltage at the battery. OBD shows no codes. The emissions light is green.

I need to know if I obviously have a bad starter? I am old school and would just change it. I wonder if this car's electronics could give a starter click and no crank for another reason? If the alternator is bad will the car crank anyway? The starter drained the battery after parking the car?

Never a start issue in the 1 1/2 years of ownership. I backed into a car just hard enough to break the Taillight. Ordered and installed the new tail light a week later.
I saw a video about the starting fuse that blows after airbag deployment. I didn’t deploy any airbags. Backed up and only broke plastic and smeared the others cars' paint on the side of the bumper. 80% wiped off with my bare hand. I had started the car 3 times before parking it for a week The battery seemed good because the charging time was 20 minutes or more. My charger show some bad batteries never show charged or show charged in <5 minutes with no power to crank.

Red face I did find a really bad battery. 6.2 volts.

I tried recharging the MB's battery. In one day that battery dropped to 6.2 volts. Having half the battery fail at the same time seems weird. I went and got an AGM 49/H8 replacement. Still, wondering if I have a short somewhere? Running the battery low is damage to a $240.00 battery.
