Exclamation Dash and center stack redesign

Looking at the pics of the redesigned w203 interior (see w203 forum) it looks as if the 2005 209's may receive the update too. I often wondered when MB would make the 209's amber center stack lighting match the blue instrument cluster's and it looks like it may be on the way. If someone knows how to cut & paste the interior shots from the 203 forum here it would be great.

I think this is the picture you are referring to. If the W209 gets an interior facelift as well, I wonder if any of the new parts could be retrofitted ?

Thanks for the pics. I would imagine a retro fit should be possible but the parts will be expensive. Generally the clks get even a better instrument cluster than the 203's so maybe there's something even better in store for the 209?

Some retrofittable parts would be great but from what I've read on other sections of the forum, the DVD-based NAV won't work in our CLK's due to a new electrical architecture.

That's unfortunate as I like the look of the new pieces.

It appears that the update is true for 2005

Hi Eich,

You mentioned that

"the DVD-based NAV won't work in our CLK's due to a new electrical architecture."

Your talking about the current Steering control unit will not work with the new DVD based NAV correct?

I love to retrofit the new command and climate control unit.

I have 04 CLK model. dont tell me the facelift is coming in 05, I will be so P..... at least coming from 06 or 07

cheers

Oh no, Oh no, Oh no don't tell me there is an update to the CLK.
I have a new CLK 320 cab coming in April 25th, dealer does'nt know anything about an update who can confirm this for me as I am not going to spend £48k on a car which is having an update a few weeks later.
Can someone help ????

BTW: I am a UK member.

The new Clk should be out in June or July...why would you by an 04 when the 05's are so close to coming out anyway?

it's different here in the Uk, our system goes by registration plate date change.
Example March 1st 2004 will be 04 plate, September 1st will be 54 , March 1st 2005 will be 05 , September 1st will be 54 etc.....

The only difference we the consumers know is that if there is a update o'r facelift coming out which the dealers don't tell us is from the info on boards like this.

The resale value of the car goes by it's registration date.

My 04 was a July production. There are 04's that are June production cars too. Expect it again.

RJC,

Which month production would you need to buy, to ensure one was to receive the MY05 produced model.

eg. Are you saying that August production would be a MY05 version?

One thing i have learnt over time. Dealers are low in the food chain and as such are not always right.

How can you be sure that your Dealer is on the money!

I rang up my dealer today, and they told me they haven;t heard anything from the head office about CLK facelift production date yet. I'm located in Australia, maybe US or UK has earlier new facelift production than Australia?

How can any of us be so sure unless MB issue a press release ??

I agree that dealers are more often the last to know anything, but when I asked him on the phone, there was no hesitation just a straightforward answer.

Dealers aren't going to tell you that something new and exciting is happening 6 months from now. Their only job is to sell cars today. No dealer in their right mind is going to tell a person that walks in wanting to buy a CLK 320 that if he waits until September he could get a CLK 350 or a CLK 320 with a facelift. He'd be fired. That's why we have these forums

I don't know about Australia but in the US a July 03 production was already an 04 as in my own car. You should check with your dealer and change your order to an 05. BTW where exactly in Melbourne are you as I have very dear friends there?

Mercedes Benz Customer Service Helpline Update.

Just had it confirmed from MB that the interior update will be available from Summer 2005 for clk cab.
Pics as seen here.

I explained to her that I had placed an order for the cab & if the update was coming out this summer after re-assurance from the dealer & MB I would be taking legal action.
She assured me it was definately next year.

Can anyone clarify exactly which month production is classified as a MY05!
