Checking in for the first time and already looking for direction / guidance. The front portion of the cream leather drivers seat bottom has dark stains that are likely (?) from tanning lotion or dye. I need to get the color code for the seats to order the right dye. Is this code imbedded in the VIN or where does it reside?

Welcome if you have an upholstery shop near you, you may not have to re-stain the seat. They may be able to take the dark color out. If you call over to a Mercedes benz dealer they might be able to recommend a shop. Should be under $100.

The color is called stone. There is probably a color code, but most leather dye places I've seen don't work that way. They don't have a comprehensive set of formulas to mix interior colors like exterior paint. You end up having to send a sample for them to match. But have you tried cleaning the spots? Try that before dying as a last resort. It will never be as good.

So far, no luck with cleaning
I have tried leather cleaner, alcohol and mineral spirits but nothing seems to touch the dark stains. Maybe the leather repair shops have a special cleaner that would do the job before I resort to a dye.
