Side Marker Malfunction

Today I went to the auto glass store to replace my windshield. I insisted that the store to keep my car inside their heated garage for a few hours after the windshield replacement. I wanted to make sure that there was enough time for the urethane to cure.

The windshield replacement was great but after driving for a few minutes, I had 2 malfunctions, right side marker and left side side marker! The outside temperature was -3C while the inside temperature was maybe 20C. Was it possible that the lamp went defective due the rapid temperature change?

Not likely. People go from heated garages to outside temps colder than that all the time.

My left side marker lamp have been finicky in the past 2-3 years. Probably the side marker cover does not block the water completely. The malfunction (left) appeared a few weeks ago after a snow storm and went away by itself after a few days.

This is the 1st time that both left and right sides maulfunction at the same time. I will change the bulbs and see what happen.

Strange that I went in for a windshield change and came out with 2 malfunctions!

Do these clear side markers cover better? I always found the OE covers do not block the water too well.

I will charge the bulbs first before looking for new covers. Buying from eBay can be a hustle for Canadians with the added custom and brokeage charges.

My OEM were constantly popping out. Clear ones are so snug and tight so you will have to use special tools in order to pop it out. Unlike OEM ones where you could use your finger nails.

My OEM ones were loose, the clear Chinese ones 'just right'! Also the retaining tabs on both sides on the OEM ones were broke, that's how I discovered the issue as one lens was partially popped out.
