#27
Hi, I drive an 2005 CLK 500 RHD, and recently bought and installed this head unit:

It will be fine for your car. Very happy with the product so far, full steering wheel control as well.

Hi Jim, my 2005 CLK also has the 254mm top width. I installed the following unit which fits perfectly in our cars. I fitted it a week ago and so far so good, full steering wheel control too.

Have a look at it, will work for your car.

What options did you buy with it?
Did you have the Optical on your car? If so, did you need to buy something to make it work?
Are the maps time coded and stop working? Do you know where to get new maps?
Did you buy the OBDII scanner?
Does it have Sat Radio Capability?
When using the radio does it display song and station information?
Do they take credit cards or Paypal?
Thanks hugely for pointing me to this one. Looks like what I wanted overall.

Hi Jim, sorry for only replying now. Firstly I am no audio installation expert! Just someone that is relatively technically minded and thought I will give the installation a go. It is definitely not plug and play, but also not that difficult to DIY.
I bought the Headunit, the 6 meter by-pass cable(HK Fibre Optic car), and a reverse camera.
I am from South Africa and the IGO maps for our country was pre loaded on the micro sd maps card( It works well, have not had any navigation registration prompt yet)
I did not get the OBDII scanner- there are preloaded software app for that facility.
We dont have satellite radio in South Africa, so I cant give you a definitive answer.
It does display song and station ID, radio reception is excellent. They provide a power antenna with the unit at no extra cost.
I paid with my Visa CC - No hassles.
Before I made the purchase I emailed back and forth with a sales rep from the Aliexpress seller. The gentleman was very helpful. Unfortunately they supplied me with the wrong reverse camera, and refunded me immediately after I pointed it out to them after receiving the goods(refunded it to my Paypal Acc), apparently too pricey to put it back into my Visa CC. Delivery was quite quick, 10 days from order to delivery, at $83 via EMS(Mainland China to Cape Town South Africa). They don't want the incorrect one back, so I get to keep the wrong one for free!
I have ordered a reverse camera from a different company now, and hopefully it will be the correct one, see below.

Hope it clears up some of your questions!

Did you had sound system from factory? Did you need any special adaptor?
How is the unit performance, is it slow since it only have 1GB DDR3 ?
Thanks

I installed this unit:
Seicane 9" Radio
However, I do not have droid 6.0 on mine.
This particular unit comes with the canbus connection so all of your steering wheel controls work. All of the wiring I had to do for the stereo (i replaced all components, speakers, sub, ect) was plug and play.
Gaiex, I was worried about the 1gb of ram as well. In my particular case (ymmv), 1gb has been enough for the apps I run. I normally have 2-3 apps open at most. Navigation and Pandora are the main two. Then Ill run Torque (obdII scanner) at times too. It seems to play videos fine, but I havent tried multitasking much with video yet.
People were asking about GPS. I feel this is a two part question. 1. Does the head unit have a GPS signal? YES. It comes with a GPS antenna and does NOT need a phone for location. 2. HOWEVER, this unit still needs DATA for the navigation. So you do need to be tethered to some degree. On Secaines website, you can purchase a 3g or 4g modem, which can be used with a SIM card to enable internet. I have not done this yes, as I am on FI (sprint, t-mobile, uscellular) and there is no option on the modem for FI .
Overall, Im pretty pleased with the purchase and would recommend it to others. If there are any questions, please ask away.

I didn't found that unit 91ser, thanks for the link!
Busboy, do you know the partnumber of your unit, maybe in the box was mentioned?
In the link you provide it also doesn't mention it.
It's a seicane unit?
About the RAM beeing only 1GB I'm now more pleased after reading your comment about it.
For the GPS, independent of the GPS software used, we allways need 3G/4G data, that's it?
Thanks

Yes i have to . Its really great . I have added a front facing camera and rear view camera . One thing though if you have bose or karmen system you will need to get an extension cable to tie into the speakers or get an aftermarket Amplifier . You will lose the oem subwoofer since it only has 4 channels . I added a 5ch amp in the trunk and i used Rcas and ran them to the back .it runs all 4 channels and the subwoofer. If you need help with install let me know i will be glad to help . BTW there is an updated one with Android 5.1 link is below

Forget the Android headunit . The sound quality is not great . Features are awesome but you get what you pay for . Get a pioneer or similar brand and good amplifier and speakers and you will see a huge difference. Touch screen headunit is about 300 plus 60 for a steering wheel controller . A good 5 channel amp is about $250 . component 6.5 speakers is about $90 and rear coaxial speakers is about $50 . replacement 8" rear subwoofer $70 for a good speaker. and 3 sets of rcas .
