Turning Automatic Headlights Off
My 2007 CLK 350 has the automatic headlight feature as all of our cars do. The lights come on and off correctly depending on the ambient light.
The Problem is I am unable to manually turn the lights off. I turn the headlight switch to the center setting "0" and the lights remain on. In fact, The lights remain on in every position on the switch.
It is a problem, because I am required to turn OFF my Headlights as I approach the gate at my military base. My wife drove the car initially and I first noticed it 5 years ago but didn't think too much of it since it wasn't my car.
Any insight would be appreciated

yes simple really, your daytime headlights are turned on from inside the MFD (the screen inside your speed reading on the instrument panel) just search through the setting page and you'll find it.

Thanks for the replies.
Does that setting turn off the lights at 0200? (2:00 am)
The Headlights are not always on, when it is light outside there are no daytime running lights illuminated. What I need to do is turn off the lights as I approach the gate at night, as not to blind the guy with a fully automatic weapon.
In the meantime I will check out the setting

Thanks to the group for helping me figure this out
By turning the vehicle to Manual in Headlight mode in the menu shown above the lights can be turned off and on via the switch.
