The CLK driver's door switch panel with the trunk closer option is A2098203610. You have to buy the whole control panel - you can't buy just the individual switched.

I cannot remember the last time I did a repair just once! As I stated before, the first time I attempted this, I had a really difficult time getting the door panel back on. Only after I finally did (5-6 tries), I realized I had installed the wrong part, using the C-Class one without trunk closing. I utilized the YouTube clip above to repair my broken window switch module and reinstalled it - much easier after all my experience, lol - and returned the C-Class switch to the eBay seller. Today was the first time I had occasion to use the trunk close button and, lo and behold, my finger pressure pushed the switch into door panel a couple of millimeters or so, which I guess means I didn't seat the switch properly....

Possibly, but just as likely you broke it. I think I said up above you need to make sure you pull the switch assembly straight out because if you angle it out it puts too much stress on the trunk switch and snaps off the paper-thin plastic where the tabs latch in. Maybe you got lucky. Otherwise you need to make some tiny plastic strips and use super glue.

I thought the 4 side tabs on the white plastic backing plate held it in place? Do the fairly prominent black tabs visible in this photo from the web factor in as well?

Rodney, what's the difference between A2098200610 and A2098203610? Both seem to have the trunk closer.....

That's not a great pic, so I cannot tell exactly what I'm seeing, but those tabs are not what I am talking about. The switches snap into a larger black plastic housing. The trunk switch just has little "hooks" near the bottom that snap into holes in the larger housing. They are hard to describe in words, but look just like the way lots of plastic things snap together. The problem is that the bottom side of the holes in the larger housing are just super thin plastic so they are easy to break.

A2098200610 does not pull up as a valid part in EPC. Did you get that off the part itself? Often, suppliers use slightly different internal numbers for the parts than MBZ.

Yes, that's what I am talking about. You will often see what looks like a valid MBZ part number stamped or printed on a part. Sometimes it is the actual part number, but sometimes it's the supplier's designation. In this case, the part is made by Valeo and that's the number for the part they supply to MBZ. If you will notice, the only difference between that number and the valid number is the "06" vs "36" int he 7th and 8th digits. Those two digits often represent a revision to a part number. So in this case, the supplier uses "06", but MBZ stocks it as "36".

They're horrible; I bought them and returned them, even though I had to break one to get it out. Different color and crappy fitment.

I have it installed in my 05 clk55 and it works great. the biggest issue I have is that the light seems to be at the bottom of the unit. The trunk is very bright and the top switches are not. Otherwise fit is perfect.

I just did this repair for the third time, and it does get easier (only 25 minutes, one skinned knuckle and one broken clip this time, lol). I'd recommend to anyone doing this for the first time to (1) make sure you buy the correct replacement part [that tip might just apply to morons like me), (2) pay close attention to where the top of the door panel fits in the groove BEFORE you remove it, and (3) make sure that white plastic piece on the back clicks into place with and audible CLICK. That holds the whole assembly in place and if not secured the module will sag into the door panel.
