Bluetooth Solution

I'm sure this question has been asked multiple times however nothing i have found has been able to assist me.

I have a 2003 CLK320 with the phone cradle in the centre. I have been trying to find a bluetooth puk for the cradle however there are very Few Visseo units left and available. I want the bluetooth controls to work through the steering wheel and so far that's the only unit i have come across.

Does anyone know of any alternative solutions?

Thanks

Most of the solutions suck are very expensive. These day people have been choosing to upgrade the system entirely.

When you say you have the puck, you have something similar to the photo below? If so, all you need is the Bluetooth puck. They are all over eBay - genuine MB brand and Visseo. If you don't have that connector, and you have a piece of coax cable inside the center console, then you need about $1000 worth of parts + more for labor to get that connector so you can then buy and install the puck.

Yeah I found a MB unit on eBay for £60ish, which was a decent price. I think the Bluetooth module wasn't the newer one that matches the age, a 2007 car, since the one I found also has the handheld unit, for if you're wanting a private convo, not just the Bluetooth connectivity.

However while this works fine with many phones, it just won't pair with my father's iPhone 6. It'll recognise the iPhone, but the iPhone won't recognise the Bluetooth unit.

Hello.
I don't want to create another thread about Bluetooth so I would like to ask quickly.

Can anyone point out on Bluetooth module which goes in place of disc changer? Once someone gave me an ebay link but I lost it. It has special adapter and plugs right in CDC wire plug.

Thank you!

I used the mCar unit. I does connect in place of the CDC, but it's not exactly plug-and-play. You have to make your own wiring harness or tap into the power connector that comes out of the CDC, and you also have to do a little work (snap on some connecting parts) for the MOST fiber. It gives you BT handsfree and an iPod interface, but no streaming. Unfortunately, I think these are out of production. You can contact them at www.mcar.us and see if they have plans for supplying any more. I have the one I pulled from the CLK before I traded it. I sold to to another member who never got it to work, so he sent it back. Later, I think we found the issue was due to the fact that he had the factory cell phone integration installed, and you can't have two!

Thank you. I remember it wasn't mcar. It was from ebay for $30 and looked more like PCB. All I need is streaming. I have 3.5mm port but it is pain to open up glove box and start bluetooth and then recharge it. Probably I got no choice then...

I'm currently working on bluetooth solution
My idea is to integrate bluetooth module into original radio (cassette radio) instead of cassette module. I'll share some results when "proof of concept is ready" will be ready.

For streaming audio, you could try something like this plugged into the AUX port:

You could look into replacing the audio system with an aftermarket unit that does all you want. There are some plug-and-play Chinese units that even look like OE, but I don't here too many good things about them. If you don't mind losing the OE look, you could install an aftermarket double-DIN system (Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony, etc.) but that requires some extra work since you have no analog wiring from the dash to the trunk where the speakers connect to the HK amp. It's not that hard, just not plug-and-play.

I thought about that and I saw Chinese android units looking identical to oem but given that it is not plug and play, it seems to me kind of hard project to mess with. I mean wiring and integration.

Finally got first results!
Proof of concept is ready, it still looks ugly and messy but it's only "proof of concept"
So main features:
1. Module connects instead of original cassette block/mechanism and it emulates all its actions (lots of things going on inside it )
2. Bluetooth audio. I'm using BC127 bluetooth 4.2 module (awesome thing). It supports almost every most interesting bluetooth profiles (A2DP, HFP, AVRCP), it means that we have bluetooth audio, audio/video remote control (next and prev buttons on a radio are controlling tracks on a phone) and handsfree (handsfree not implemented yet )

I do have a video showing all results, but I'm pretty sure that it'll banned on youtube because of copyrights (I'm playing several tracks)

Next step is to fix small issues and create first version of the device
BTW this devices will be open source/open hardware.
Stay tuned
