2009 SL550 Roadster Diamond White, 2008 CLK550 Coupe Obsidian Black
Replaced driver and passenger side camshaft magnets (second time as the first set of updated parts were defective and getting stuck). No more check engine light.

Replaced the halogen lights with the bubbled up reflectors with a set of HID projectors. Fell for the installation sales pitch on Amazon. When I got home after the installation I discovered that they had put the old halogen bulbs in the projectors. I had wondered why they were so dim. And yes, the boxes with the HID bulbs and the ballasts were still in the trunk. Going back the installer, driving the 41 miles to the shop again tomorrow to have that work done. Was very close to doing that myself, but I'd have to very carefully check the polarities of the standard plug and decided that it was easier to drive to the shop.

Sold the car Bye Bye, not too sad but I did many a good journey in her and not once let me down, also I've never had a car for so long (3 years) the whole package of a CLK is Perfect I would buy one again maybe. Whats next you say? well I like older cars/modern classic more and more and I've always likes the B4/B5 Avants and mk1 audi tt also any nice e34/e39 would do the trick. Anyway Thanks to the forum I might check in once in a while but Bye for now.

Funny after the fact but not so funny while it happened. I installed a pair of LED strips as running lights using fuse 46 - the windshield wiper and washer fuse with a fuse tap. When I was done I went to test them, of course, and discovered that the wind shield wipers didn't work. Puzzled the heck out of me because all I had done was to remove the fuse and install a tap. Finally I decided to go here and see if there were any hints of what was going on. It turned out that I had missed that the wipers don't work when the front door is open. Once the door was closed everything worked as it should.

Thankfully I read this in the owner’s manual, else id have been left wondering many times!
I only wish that they went one step further and disabled the wipers when the bonnet is unlatched, in the rare scenario where the bonnet is raised and the wipers are in service position and then are automatically triggered by the rain sensor, they make haste at chipping the paint from the edge of the bonnet!

Yesterday I replaced both wipers. Was not hard after reviewing videos about how to do so.
Today I replaced a brake light bulb that went out this AM. Lots of helpful video's posted on YouTube and it was dead simple to replace.

Brake overhaul over the weekend
Spent a good 2 half days of working on the car this weekend.
Cleaned all the components, even polishing the pins and checking all the parts. I have this wierd low speed low pressure condition squealing so i wanted to check it out.
also, i got my calipers from a junk yard so it was beat up. Ended up scrubbing, sanding, prime, paint and clear coated the calipers. The amg stickers didnt arrive yet... so they look plain.
so far they look much cleaner and dont squeal now. I am hoping it stays like this.
it wasnt perfect, when i get more time... i want to strip it all the way down and paint it off the car. I used vht spray paint.
notes:
vht primer is coarse. Needs alot of sanding to be smooth
vht color is best in thin coats, dont rush
vht clear is super runny... need to go thin with more coats sooner... but not wet recoating.

SO your brakes are squealing when you are doing a gentle, low-speed stop? It sounds like you need to put some anti-squeal lubricant on the back of the pads. I've tried using the stuff they give away at the auto parts stores, and it doesn't last. You need this:

yea, it was... like the tail end of a light brake to a stop light. but now it is good. i just used mild degreaser and cleaned the whole caliper with a nylon brush. so far everything is good. i didn't touch my rotors. but i did polish my pins, 1000 grit, 1500 grit, 2000 grit, then metal polish... by putting it on my cordless drill and just running it wet. lol. took off all the caked on dirt and came out super shiny.
man, i really like that brake hone!

Looking good!
I used Rust oleum caliper paint about 5 years ago. It is still good, has a gloss finish, and did not require any finish work; dries smooth. I painted them while installed.

Returned from my third February with the CLK350 in the Florida Keys from our home in Massachusetts. This car is simply fantastic for those trips. Comfortable, quiet and has enough power to get around traffic in a hurry. Wish it would last forever, Has 80K Miles on it, so there should be several years left in it. It doesn't get a huge number of miles at home. Short trips are done on electric in our Volt, and we take the Boxsters on fair weather drives,
Bought a set of rims and Blizzack snow tires in case we ran into snow on the trip. I was quite worried ablt wear during the month in 80+ degree temperatures, but they did better than I feared and have plenty of thread left,

Nothing too fancy. Just my daily commute to and from work. The weather was nice so I rolled down all the windows and opened the sunroof. It was a pleasant ride.

Sold it! .......Reasons??.....well I'm not a brand loyal man....I like the cars I like....and I never really gelled with the W209 CLK200K. My wife knew that it was not the car for me after about a month. I normally mod all my cars....but I never did more than service her and replace the cassette radio with a 7 in touch screen one. I just never felt "the love" for this car. Nothing wrong with it.....just found it a touch....well... boring and characterless compared to some cars I've owned to be honest. I know it only had the 1.8 litre Kompressor motor but it was not that....most of my miles are a slowish commute so having more power would not have really helped to be honest. Although on that front I think It would have been more fun on the open roads without the 255 rear tyres on AMG 4 18inch wheels.....just too much grip to be fun....! Unless it was raining or very cold there was next to no line adjustment even with heavy throttle use. I'm not saying its a bad car....just not the car for me. So what next?....well I'm looking for a nice (getting difficultto find over here) Alfa Romeo 159 with the 200BHP 2.4 5 cylinder diesel motor...and yes I know all about their alleged reliability issues but I've had a few Alfa in the past and only ever had one water pump failure on one of them (a 156 V6 Veloce).....never anything serious enough to leave me at the roadside! What they "might" lack in reliability they more that make up for in character, looks and style. Its been fun gents.....I know I don't post much on here but I've read lots so thanks to the regulars and long may you enjoy your cars. Oh ....and any UK members, don't forget to wave as you pass me by....broken down on the hard shoulder!!

I had a rear view camera installed. I had previously had an aftermarket head unit put in, and recently popped the $ to have steering wheel controls added. During that work I bought a reverse camera, but did not have the time to have it completed at that time.
Works well, especially useful with the roof up.
I did not want one that attached to the license plate, as I have issues with the 4 bolts that hold that on, and did not want anyone removing and replacing those.
So a not quite stealthy install, but I'm fine with it.
