Fog Light cracked - Replacement
Does anybody have instructions or replacing the fog lights on 2008 CLK 550? I cracked the glass. I looked on parts.com and can't find the right part number. Would like to remove it before I order it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Its really quite easy. I did it in January and it took less than an hour.
First of all, put the side that you need to replace them up on jack stands and remove the wheel.
You need to remove the front fender liner. It is held by a combination of screws and clips. It will be obvious when you have them all out. The fender liner covers the front third of the wheel well and the bottom of the front.
Once you have the fender liner out you can unclip the cable and then remove two nuts that hold the fog light. You can see where they are on the new light. Pull the old one out and now all you have to do is to is reverse the process.
If the fender liner has any damage replace it. It is quite inexpensive. Also, its a good idea to have some extra body panel expandable clips in case they are broken or you break some when removing them.
There is a finger screw on the fog light that allows you to adjust the beam.

You might be able to get to it without lifting the car or removing the fender liner extension panel. The black plastic fake mesh surrounding the fog light can be removed from the outside - it has three or four Torx head screw holding it in place. Once you do that, you can get to the fog light and unbolt it (more Torx head screws). I think I was able to remove mine that way.

I believe it depends on whether you have the standard or AMG style fog lights. On mine, which has the standard style it would be really hard to replace the fog light without removing the front fender liner.
On the AMG style cars the fake mesh looks bigger. Also, the fog light on mine is attached with standard bolts, not Torx.

The OP has the AMG-style. All USA model V8's had that standard, and I can see in his photo it is the AMG style.
Not that I have not found a separate part number for just the lens on the AMG style fog light. I believe you have to buy the whole thing. Mine had cracked and that's when I decided to go with the LED "L" bars like the W207. Before I traded it for the SL, I went back to stock. My lens was just cracked, with a small chip missing, so I covered it with 3M clear bra to hold it together.
