Fog lights not working .

My *** lights where going bad and i got a new set of hids to replace them . but my wife went to turn on the fog light before i replacement and there was a huge buzz coming out of the speakers and it even triggered my amps to turn off . So i didnt mess with them and i ended up replacing the hid with a new kit and i have no power coming out of the foglights . I did a test for voltage and on one i am getting 4 volt and the other side i am getting 9 volt . did the switch maybe go bad or is there a fuse i can check ?

There are no fuses for the lighting - they are electronically controlled by the SAM. It's possible you blew the SAM, but more likely, the HIDs are not pulling enough current and the SAM things the bulb is out so it shuts them down. You need an HID kit with "error cancelling" circuitry. These will mimic the 55w load of a standard halogen bulb so the SAM doesn't think the bulbs have failed.

I already have the cancelers for the error free. Can you tell me which sam it is and can I test the sam ?

Front lights are controlled by the front SAM - its basically the front fuse panel. It can be tested with SDS.

Thank you . One quick question. I want to test the light switch and see if it's broken before I tackle the Sam. Do you know which wires in the back on the light switch are for for lights ? Thanks

It sounds like you're getting voltage on the wires. The voltage will go up and down as the computer tries to turn the lights on and off before finally giving up and thinking a bulb is out. You should see it going up and down between 5V and 12V. What's the connection between your amps and fog lights?

I have no clue what the connection is between my aftermarket amps or the foglights which is why I thought it was weird . I got a huge buzz through my speakers whenever I switched the fog lights on and I tried 2 times. my amps went to safe mood and restarted . I am guessing whatever the electrical issue was it pulled way to much power from the battery and it was not enough to keep my amps running . Or maybe its a ground issue somewhere. I just went out again and tested the system and I found its going from 3 volt to 12 v as you mentioned but the weird thing is my meter is reading it as negative voltage like If I had put the red on black and black on red . But I have the red on red and black on black . The wiring in the HID kit is made for the 9006 bulb so you can only plug it in 1 way and its correct .

Well, that sounds like you're getting voltage without issues. Where exactly are you testing the voltage? On the harness coming from the car or somewhere on the HID harness? You probably have the probes reversed. I personally would focus on the error cancelers aka resistors that come with the HID kit. Which ones are you using specifically?

The meter I have has attached probes so there is no way to mix them up .I added the link below to the hid cancelers. I took it another step and I removed the foglight wire and attached the HID kit to my headlights and they work 100% . So the issue seems to be coming from the fog lights only . My other guess is the switch inside the car might of gotten damaged .

Hmmm interesting. Do regular bulbs work as fog lights or does the issue persist?

So if the HIDs worked before what makes you think there's something wrong with the wiring? Try a regular halogen bulb and if that works that eliminates your wiring/switch and you can start looking at the HID kit. If the halogen bulb doesn't work then you can look at the SAM/wiring/switch.

However, speaking from experience it's probably the "error cancelers". These work perfectly on my car if that turns out to be the issue: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/co...tandalone.html

I am going to go back under the hood and test it out . I don't see the cancelers as the issue because again I tested the kit with the headlight and they work fine . I will update what I come up . Thank you
