Keyless Remote Unlocking
1. Infrared works fairly well. Sometimes have to push button a lot.
2. RF unlocking not at all.
3. Purchased a brand new remote from MB dealer programmed. Same problem.
4. Checked all the fuses including the trunk. All good however I believe there is no power connected to fuse 21 and 22 located on the fuse box by the dash.
AM and FM reception is amazing so likely not the antenna amplifier.
I'm gonna try another tester on those fuses again but something tells me the previous owner had an aftermarket system and its disconnected. If that's the case, how can I find out?
Already tried that fuse. Nope.
Also, if it were the antenna amplifier why do I get amazing g radio reception?

Anything on circuit 30 should have voltage always. Circuit 15R is switched so it will only have power when the ignition is on. If this isn't the case, you may have a problem with the rear SAM.
I removed the fuses from 9 down to 16 and used a test light and nothing. But #8 lights up. Would that be normal? Would think they would also light up with the car running, no?
Next question is this....I assume the alarm system not working would prevent the CLS from working correct?
In a way since this discovery it's now possible that the $1,500 rear window may be fine. However it will cost quite a bit of money to now diagnose this crap.
Assuming that didnt do jack, I got out of the car muttering the same words "I wonder how many times I'll have to push the button this time?" Well...Once. then I tried from far away and same thing. Lock and unlocking working flawlessly.
I can only PRAY that it stays this way!!!!
i don't understand why a 3rd party installer can't put an aftermarket RCL in this car. I've been told by installers that actually own Beamers and Benzes that it can't be done. Why?
Not that this is the W209, CLK forum and you have a W211 E-Class, so you should visit that forum (https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211-20/) for the best answers. I am not certain, but if fuse 8 on your car does control the antenna amp an ATA siren, and it keep blowing, then you your ATA siren is likely blown due to corrosion or its internal battery leaking. If so, I'd unplug it. It's located inside the left front fender, behind the wheel.
