I assume you meant your title to be "Coupe and convertible interior swap"? I cannot swear to it, but I think the convertible rear seat is narrower because of the top mechanism on the sides.

It's not only about rear seats , even front seats are different . In convertibles side airbags integrated into front seats, but in coupes they are integrated into doors .

Many issues here - front seats on the cabriolet have airbags built-in, where the coupe has airbags in the door. The cab's rear seat is more upright and more narrow. It's a no-go.

I also now see that you may have a W208 and are in the wrong forum, although most of the same issues will apply, although I cannot swear to the airbags in W208 front seats.

Yeah. It's a W208. But it's a mid-year build, as most of them were w209s. It's always a hard call on which forum to go to. A LOT of W209 parts have worked fine on my car.

The air bags are indeed NOT built-in to the seats. I've looked at pretty much every detail now and my prime concern is still in the back seat setup.

This is because you have a W208, not W209. Forget "mid year" and build date - the CLK430 was only a W208.
