Soft top creak when cold
I have a creak from the soft top where it joins the windscreen just in front of my head when I am driving. It only happens when its freezing. I applied Gummiphlege to the rubber and it improved it, but didn't go away. I am thinking of applying some silicone lubricant to the seals. Any other ideas?

Gummiphlege usually works for a while. Before adding more lube, try this. Your cloth headliner goes under that large piece of plastic at the front. When it's creaking while driving, slip your fingers over the top edge of that plastic between the cloth and the plastic and pull down a bit - just sort of let the weight of you arm hang there. Does the creak stop? If so, it's not the main weatherstrip that is creaking, but a rubber strip where the headliner cloth terminates that rubs on that plastic piece. Put your fingers in far enough and you can feel it. If that is the cause, just lay your top down in the trunk, and remove the four or so screws to remove the plastic piece, and put some lube on that rubber strip.

been bitterly cold here in the SE the past week.
Got the car out and drove around for a hr..the top creaked and I moaned til the car, and myself got warmed up.
Ran fine after about 15 mins. Heated seats are a wonderful thing..

If the source of a noise is not obvious I always try to use a process of elimination. Like to confirm if the main header seal is the cause, take paper towel - single thickness, don't fold it up - and raise the top enough to place it at one end, then the other. See where the noise stops.

I bought this stuff on Rodney's recommendation. It is good, but use very little. If you use too much, it beads up on the rubber. Then it soaks into the cloth top. Then you wonder why there is a dark streak at leading edge of your top. Not that I know any of this from experience. TOTALLY hypothetical.
