BORE SIZE

`

FRONT: 8.5 X 18 H2 ET 25

REAR: 9.5 X 18 H2 ET 28

These wheels are off a W219 CLS

i would like to put them on a W209 2003 CLK500
which has this wheel as OEM

The OEM have a 32 ET front / 37 ET rear

Both wheels (W209 / W219) are 5x112

I have searched for the bore size of the W219 wheels

but have been unable to find the answer to see if it is the same

as the W209 OEM wheel bore size

I would be mounting the following size tyres

Front: 245 x 40 / 18

Rear: 285 x 35 / 18

My question(s) is - is the bore size the same for W219 / W209

and will these W219 wheels / tyres work on a 2003 W209 CLK500

Thank-You
D.B.

I think MB uses a standard bore size. Can't swear to it, but I think so. If you like that style, why not get a set off a CLK550 from 08 or 09? Same style spokes. They will have a closer offset to your original. The outer part is slightly different. The lower offsets on the ones in your pics will makes those wheels sit out a bit - like if you put 10mm spacers on your current wheels. You'll have decide if you like that look.

Bore size can change over the years but yes, manufacturers generally use the same bore size. 66.6 for Mercedes.

Looking for the wheels/tyres to stick out

I'm an old man and I like the look- 50's/60's retro look

Now the problem may be the wheel bolts as I found this:

"All mercedes bolt patters are 5x112 but that's the bolt pattern. The sizes of the seats on the bolts are different. Cs, CLKs, W210 E classes and SLKs use a 12mm wide bolt, where as CLS, W211Es, SLs, etc... uses a 14mm bolt. So if you use the 12mm bolt on the rims designed with the 14mm bolts, there will be 2mm gaps around the bolt and it's not exactly safe."

Are the thread sizes the same - just the head of the bolt is different?

Would obtaining the correct W219 CLS wheel bolts from the dealer work

Dazed and confused without smoking pot

Thank-You
D.B.

I am being told that I need these bolts for the W219 CLS wheels to fit properly:

I have bought Otis bolts in the past, had them torqued properly and some of them snapped over time....just a thought. That being said, they're supposedly the best, though I've had better luck with ebay bolts so far.

Bore size - should be the same, otherwise get hub centric adapters.
Bolt pattern - should be the same, on the same car make.
Type of bolt - Conical/Ball seat. This is based on the wheel and how the actual holes for the bolts are made. If the CLS uses conical bolts stock then you need conical bolts.
Size of bolt - This is based on your car. If your stock bolts are M12, then you need an M12 regardless what wheels you put on. The only thing that might change is the length of the bolt, based on wheel design. You want to make sure the bolt threads into the hub enough to hold the wheel and not stick out on the other side of the hub, possibly damaging components.
Offsets - I would look for somebody who has the same wheels on a CLK to get a clear idea on how exactly they will look.

Does the W209 2003 CLK500 use conical bolts or ball

Does anyone know if the W219 CLS wheels are conical or ball

I really appreciate the knowledge being shared in this thread

Found out the W219 CLS wheels use a conical bolt

The W219 CLS wheels have the tire pressure monitors

inside the wheel - since I won't need them on a 2003 CLK500

can they be removed or should they be left in place

Thank-You

These pictures show a 2003 CLK500 with CLS wheels

No spacers

The CLS wheels are 8.5x19 F / 9.5x19 R

It said they are the same offset as the ones i'm looking at

Again - I really appreciate the input I received from

the forum members who posted

Thank-You

Looks good. The TPMS can stay in but I would just get rid of it.
