Are they Worth it?
So I'm about to close a deal on a 07 CLK 350 and i wanted to know what your guys' experience has been with this model. Are they Reliable? Hard to Maintain? Also, does the convertible top malfunction often? and if so, is it expensive to get it fixed?

You can post the car's VIN here so we check if the engine is in the range of the idler sprocket failures, but the general advice here is stick with 2009 or 2008 CLKs since by then all of the problems were ironed out.

You want to avoid half the MY2007s as they can experience engine timing chain idler sprocket (a.k.a. balance shaft) failure. You also want to avoid any 722.9 transmission prior to MY2008 since they experience conductor plate and fuel pump failures.

The Vin number to it is WDBTK56F37T080367
Removing the transmission to replace the conductor plate and/or change the fluid pump, which will require a live connection to MB's servers to reprogram the transmission control unit, will prove to be very costly if you live in the US or in any country where labour is not cheap. We are talking $1-3k here.
