Creator C502 ODBII Reader - does it work?
I have the C310 for my BMW and it is a great step up from a generic ODB reader for reading most BMW codes and was thinking about getting one for the MB
anyone have one?
, so I am not interested in coding or programming; just seeing beyond the ODBII CEL codes as I have a little misfire going on.The creator C310 obviously reads all ECU codes on my BMW and does some adaptations resets and is the go-to scanner for the X3 forum so I am assuming the nC502 would be similar in abilities. From what I am reading the iCArSoft has a very similar list of features.
The iCarSoft MBII description touts it's ability to set the Electronic Brake system - do we even have such a thing?
I should have written Electronic Parking Brake, not Electronic Brake
" EPB:Opens and closes the brake pads,Reads and clears EPB/SBC trouble codes, Turns off the ECU and brake warning light,Diagnoses EPB/SBC caliper functionality,
Resets the brake pad thickness service etc. "

I use a scanner;
to check codes causing CEL. Even if I am taking it to the repair shop I like to know what nature of problem the car has
I do some work on the car myself; so a scanner is helpful in tracking down issues and my own screw ups.
My car is modified and I check for readiness before emissions testing yearly
I reset nuisance codes awaiting time for me to fix the cause
If you're not going to do any of the work yourself, I guess a scanner would not be of much benefit. I don't think I have used a scanner on other vehicles I own. I just take my truck into the dealer or repair shop and say "fix it". I could do some work on those other vehicles; I just don't wanna...…
The W209 CLK, like the W203 C-Class is one of MBZ's simpler cars. Others with more complexities almost require having SDS if you DIY. For example, cars with SBC (Sensatronic Brake Control) must have the system disabled before doing any brake work, and then re-calibrated afterward. Cars with ABC (Active Body Control) can be quite maintenance intensive and SDS is helpful in that. The complex hydraulics and electronic controls on the cabriolet and retractable roof systems sometime need a proper diagnosis by pulling codes. Oh, and with SDS, I was able to re-code the COMAND unit and add backup camera to my SL.

I use to do all my work on my vehicles. I don't anymore. But, when I take my vehicles into my repair shop. We check the computer to see if there are any code. Neither my CLK500 ot any of my 3 Acura NSX's ever throw codes (ever) now , my dodge sprinter that's another story. It will throw 2 or 3 a year. That Mercedes Benz diesel 6 cylinder is a complete pain. I drive it around all year with one code or another turning my engine light on. I'll stop in every few months. They check to see what it's on for. Turn it off. I'll be on my way. No charge. So I actually have my own code reader. It's just I don't need to pay for it.
I've known my mechanic since we were 12 years old. I'm 68 last sunday.
Could somebody help me please.
I have a device.
During update I have got an error and after that my PC cant recognize the card and asks me to format it.
