Thumbs down CLK500 doesn't stop when releasing accelerator

Is it me, or does this car seem to NOT slow down fast enough when you release the gas pedal? I haven't owned an auto tranny in a while, so maybe that's it, but I OFTEN find myself right on people's bumpers because the car is still going when I release the accelerator.

I hate the incessant use of the brakes, flashing brake lights every 5 seconds, but damn...I gotta stop this thing!

What's your take on this?

I think it's just you, I've been driving more autos then manuals and I never feel anything like that.

Plus I love using the brakes, I love brake dust

Yea, I was doing that some, but I get a lil disappointed with the slowness of the "auto-shift".

I find Sport mode is a little better than regular, probably because I'm potentially in a lower gear.

Might just be the engine programming for the 500 as the 320 will almost nose dive when the pedal is lifted (in any gear the mph is calling for), enough you feel like it dropped into a lower gear (when it has not). Its great except people behind you (gotta watch them too) may not notice your rapid slowing not having a brake light to wake them up, oops bump, or a chain reaction behind them from their hard braking to compensate for their lack of attention and/or reflexes! There are deceleration tables in the chip/engine management system, some fueling/timing others engine rpm control that allow a programmer to setup what ever they decide is good? Might be the 04 got some re-programming in response to some complaints the car nose dived so easy when letting off the gas, it could become annoying if too much and happening all the time. I have chip tuned (in other cars) deceleration enleanment and throttle follower tables to get the balance I expect, and it’s more a happy medium between my wife’s 03 CLK320 diving and the coasting her other car did like this 500 owner is having. Might be a problem or intended setup for the 500 of this year, don’t know, need more 500 owners to reply to get an idea.
