I just got the donor vehicle in, what I will be using to harvest few parts for my 04 CLK500. I will use the hood, left fender, radiator shroud and couple misc plastic parts from the interior.
I will shoot the video showing what's working, what's not working, but pretty much it's a whole car. 3 chrome AMG wheels, the 4th one unfortunately damaged. bumper is the whole piece, but also severely damaged (may be someone will need it for the project or something).
I cannot work much on the car right now, because the mosquitoes are just terrible, eating me alive like a swarm.
I'm located in the Chicago northwest suburbs, so the bulky parts will be sold with a local pickup, the small parts I can ship anywhere in the lower 48 states.
Once again, I didn't start to dismantle the vehicle, but will do it fairly soon. It's really impossible now with all those mosquitoes.
Ok, I put my attention to the presenter - just a sliding rail noise. No grinding noise like the worn gear grind.
Update:
Headlights are gone,
Radiator upper support with hood latches gone,
Reinforcement bar is gone,
Windshield washer tank gone,
Front bumper gone.
Rear taillights gone.
1. Looking for driver's side seat belt presenter if not making noise
I know it’s working, since it presented me the belt today, didn’t pay attention on the sound it’s making. I guess something like sliding rail sound Can you send me any link with a video when presenter is producing a bad sound so I could compare? Just don’t know what is a good sound or bad sound or may be it should be silent at all? Or I can make a video tomorrow showing the sound.

I will make a vid tomorrow. You can't miss the sound as it either sounds like something grinding in a food processor.

I took this hood and left fender for myself, so if anyone needs the hood that needs some work and a left fender that needs some work - I will let it go very cheap.

Ok, how much for the presenter and how many miles?
$85 for presenter. I can shoot a video showing it's operation with sound. Cluster probably was replaced at some point, therefore it shows dashes. But I did purchase Carfax and the last service shown in 2017 summer with 89k miles. So I assume it is at or under 100k miles.

Ok great, I will take that if you don't mind holding for a week or so as I am in the process of changing intake manifold on wife's CLK.
not a problem. It will take some time to get to it. Any idea what needs to be disassembled to reach it?
Thanks. From what I remember the rear bottom cushion needs to be removed along with a panel behind the top of the rear seats. I had to raise the tonneau cover to access the 5-6 plastic push pins.
Got some time recently and removed few parts:
- roll over bars
- rear window regulators
- windows
- all seat belts
- glove box
- center console
- cd changer
- ac control unit
- radio
- front headrests
probably something else too.
Hey, also, what about the subwoofer as well as struts? Did you have a chance to drive around?
Subwoofer is working. I did check the audio system before I did pull the radio and cd-changer out. You can see the actual sub in the tread about the window regulator removal. I have a video there showing the sub.
In regards to the struts - I literally drove couple hundred yards back and forth to see the engine and transmission working in my neighborhood- didn’t have a chance to check out the suspension.
Looking for the front slave solenoid in the top of the car for latching/unlatching mechanism. If you have the A/C control module, looking for that as well. (As long as it’s the one with an amber display and two knobs instead of wheels surrounding to turn up temp, etc)
Do you have the straps for the manual operation of the top? Looking for that as well.
Yes, A/C control module is with the amber display in the middle.
Can you please provide some more info about the slave solenoid? Is is located on the movable part of the top or on the top of the windshield trim?
Unfortunately no straps, but I don't see why anyone need them since any rope will do

Thanks for the quick response! Yeah, the solenoid is in the actual top - it’s the one that makes the top unlatch (does the job that the hex key does if you’re doing it manually)
I just wanted the straps because I thought they would be good to have - I haven’t had too much luck with popping the tonneau cover up and have been tearing up my hands with rope!
