clk 320 vs. c230k sedan

i was looking at mbusa.com and did a comparison with clk320 and c230 kompressor sedan.

the data states that 0-60 time of c230 kompressor is slightly faster than clk320. is this true?

has anyone encountered this comparison in real life?

also i noticed clk 320 is about $15k more expensive than c230k on MSRP.

not to insult anyone, what is the reason someone would buy clk320 over c230k besides the obious fact clk is coupe and c230 is a sedan.

Mostly a preference of style

The w209 is a heavy car - the 6cyl version gained 300 lbs. due to the slightly larger body and the reinforcements to go pillarless (no B pillar)

the C230 K sedan weighs much more like the old w208 did with the 6 cyl. The factory rating for the w208 clk320 was 0 to 60 in 6.9 seconds.

The extra weight hurt the performance - probably one of the major reasons the w209 v8 is now the 5 liter - the performance with the 4.3 wouldn't have been that good with all the extra weight it has now.

But in the end, its a user preference - what your needs are - if you carry more passengers around most of the time - they will probably go for the 4 door sedan vs. the coupe.

The CLK is based on the C-Class platform, not the E-Class.

He is correct - it is based on C Class. However, they still dont compare. I owned a 2003 C230k, now a CLK55, ignoring power, the CLK is still leaps and bounds better then the 230 was

Yes, the CLK is based on the C platform but interior, equipment and drivability are much like the E-class.

I myself owe a CLK320. I wash my my nephew's C230 Sport Sedan once and it's definitely not comparable to the CLK.

i was at the dealership the other day and saw the C and CLK. the 05 C has gotten a brand new revised interior which i liked a lot, very neat.

the CLK 320 i sat in didn't have a brand new interior, because it was 2004 model. the odometer and the A/C vents were very nice in it; has distinctive CLK design, but it had the same exact buttons and the units in the middle (radio, hazard button, and climate controls) as the 04 C-class.

however i also saw 05 CLK 320 cabrio with the revised interior design just like the 05 C-class. (nice as hell)

on the outside, CLK looks very 'high class'; with no pillar in between the windows.. it looked very sexy. i love the back too.

anyway i've decided to go for the C because it comes with 6spd manual, new interior available now, (as a driver, i'm only gonna be looking at my interior rather than exterior; this doesn't mean that the C is ugly, by the way, i think C is beautiful, now with stock AMG body kit), sport suspension and optional 12 speaker sound package, also better MPG.

i've heard that CLK has no optional sound system and only available with standard 9 speaker system. how is the sound quality in CLK?

i've got another year of college so i also wanted to go a little conservative with my car. i think a college student doesn't really need a CLK for daily commute to school, well any MB in that case.
