M113 Exhaust mod = Vibrant resonator ...wow

After losing the battle to find a sport muffler for my 2006 CLK 500 Cabrio, I went with a Vibrant resonator instead. Wow, it works great. Not a hell of a lot more sound, but it sounds way BETTER, kind of like a stock AMG set-up. I believe there's more power. Def no loss of tq like a res delete can cause.

Best $50 EVER spent. https://smile.amazon.com/Vibrant-Per...TPI/ref=sr_1_4

Be sure to get the "performance" model. I will try to do a clip later. Let me know if there's interest for one.

Can I put that on my 09 CLK 350?
I have the AMG dual tips on my car, can this cause any damage to the engine or exhaust?
thanks

I have the same tips, it's ok. The resonator is right in the middle of the system, you'll never notice. That's why I didn't mess with the muffler, the resonator swap was SO EASY.

I’m working on a true dual with quad tips for my clk500 and I purchased two vibrant resonators with a x pipe muffler, excited to see how it sounds. If it’s not loud enough I’ll get some 200 cell primary cats

That sounds like a really good set-up. One thing is the resonators will take time to pack down to their final tone.

I have a cabrio, so I didn't want it too loud, and keeping the drone and rasp to a minimum was important. So, this worked out perfectly for me.

I believe people jump right to the res delete mod because they can't find a replacement resonator they have confidence in.

I remember Vibrant from 20 years ago modding VAG cars.

Link a video here when you get it all installed, thanks.

Hey guys. ive been lurking on here for some time. Picked up my 05 CLK500 with 37,000miles just last month. And since then, have read almost all threads regarding muffler / resonator mods for the CLK500. Lots of great info and options across the board.

@Audi Junkie Like you I have the Cab, and also use it for longer GT like weekend trips. Probably lots of highway miles in my future. Ive got a stage 3 VW wagon with exhaust setup for my daily and Abarth for spirited winding weekend drives, so would like to keep my CLK more refined but also hear some of that beautiful V8.

Question: did you put the vibrant resonator in the location of the OEM resonator? and then deleted the mufffler all together? or keep OEM 500 muffler.

So far, Ive deleted secondary cats, and have swapped out my OEM res with the Vibrant. Havent driven it that much of break-in period.... feel tone might be a bit deeper, but like you said. almost no change in volume.

So next step would be to remove muffler altogether? or i thought putting a small tube muffler? would a small tube muffler be any different to just a complete muffler delete?

any thoughts would be greatly appreciate.

Once im done, i'll be sure to share my set up and pay it forward.

Just stick it out. For some reason, it does take time for the system to settle in. if you did all the mods at once, you would notice, but one at a time might be too subtle...?

Just swapped the OE resonator for the Vibrant, it was enough for me, and with the convertible
