Just got a CLK a couple of day ago car was driving great went to the store and went inside came back and car runs fine but won’t go into gear
I can move the shifter but the transmission won’t engage and there is no codes

I'm not even sure what do you mean by "gearbox crankcase", transmission oil pan? valve body?
Anyway before removing anything try to check shifter linkage bushing. Check this thread, it might be your case, only in the guy's case his transmission was in N.

Mannnn that thread sounds just like what is happening I just walked in the door from dropping the car off at a independent Mercedes shop. Was talking with the owner and he said it sounds like it may be the linkage but they were about the close and they will update tomorrow when they open and hook it up to the Star machine. It was the shifter linkage and bushing. Car is running strong again. they found a oil leak coming from the oil filter housing so I'm gonna have to tackle that next.
