How many of you guys lease? And for how Much?

I'm looking into leasing a CLK 500, somewhat loaded, ie Nav and maybe AMG rims. I'm wondering how many of you do that, and for how much? I live in the Dallas area and I have heard that Lineback is a great place to lease from. Just wondering. I have searched and couldn't find specific lease payments.

By the way I have an 04 M3 Convert currently that we are leasing. Wifes daily driver.... It's loaded besides Nav and 19's, 15,000k per year, 4 year lease @ $846 a month. Can I get close to that or better? Thanks guys.

My thoughts, you got hammered on that M3

you have to watch when you get these cars because leasing is tricky to get a car for a good price at the moment.

I mean realistically you can do a 36 Month M3 cabrio loaded for what your paying, you have a 48month term no Nav or CSL rims.

I do financing for this stuff for clients so I know whats possible.

On the CLK my local dealer wants $1000 a month, 39 month term and about $5800 upfront inc sales tax.

I think this deal is insane. I called a much larger dealer and I hear prices in the mid $850 range.

I called the dealer where I send all my clients, $769 month 39 months.

Every dealer discounts differently, you need to haggle a bit , dont pay to much, it makes me sick how overpriced all our cars are and to pay high leasing just doesnt make any sense.

Also every state is different too, shop around even if it means driving further to another showroom.

Actually the Lease payment is pretty decent. The dealership wanted $1050 for the same car. We went through Autoflex. That's also with $0 money down. I know though Lineback probably could have gotten maybe $30-$50 dollars better but I never heard of them till recently.

I have and that's why I'm asking. Let me ask the question in a different way. What are some lease payments people have out there for the CLK500? Thanks.

Wow! Very impressive, did you go through the dealership, or somewhere else?

Not sure where you guys are from but why would anyone want to do a 39-48 month lease?

I think its crazy, in NYC no car can hold up that long it will just rattle to pieces.

Plus short term leases give you the freedom to get new cars earlier.

Maybe its just me but After 15-18 months Im sick of any car, Porsche, Benz or whatever.

I did a 39 month lease 9 years ago and it was the worst thing ever when I wanted to get out and my warranty expired and 2600 to overhaul the chain tensioners and other engine parts I took a 3500 loss from the buyout and sold it privatly since I knew it would get worse with 12 months more to go.

All in all these cars today are all POS so get in them and get out of them, they are disposible objects, since no manufacture today makes anything to last.

I'm not sure what kind of warranty Mercedes has, or how thier Customer Service is. But BMW has 4 years or 50,000 mile warranty on all their new cars. This has, and will come in handy when I'm not paying a dime for anything from a simple oil change to warranty issues.

But I agree, that's one of the freedoms and peace of mind of Leasing a vehicle. USUALLY, you lease the vehicle while it is still under warranty. I would not like to own any of these higher priced vehicles especially after their warranties have expired.

Mercedes Just did away with the included maint program now you must pay for everything

Audi simply has the best plan but its just to lure new customers into the brand.

I can drive well past warranty in 2.5 years thats why i could never do a longer term lease.

You own any High Line car after the warranty you will bleed for parts an service cost.

Ex. 2004 S Class wiper blade alone cost $249 pair, that is insane.

Make sure you always get "'gap insurance" when you lease, and it is advisable to put no money down at all if you can swing the payments that way.

One reason for this, your $$ is not tied up in a depreciating asset, (even if it is not your car') and another is that if the car gets totalled (or stolen-non recover) when say only 6 months old, you are usually out of the "capital reduction"- you of course do pay "lease interest" on the extra money borrowed--but something to think about.

Try out this website www.leasecompare.com, they have great tutorials on leasing, and this is how I leased my new Vette in 2002. As an example the CLK we just ordered today (MSRP- $64,250) can be leased for about $800 a month plus tax, for 51 months with no money down, gap insurance included, no aquisition fee, and all done over the internet.

When I leased my Vette through them, they Fed-exed the check to me, and I went and bought the car for them.
The lease is financed through Wells Fargo--so no fly by night banks.

I think it was 4 days in hand from online app.
They do require pretty high Ficos, (700's) and you must
carry high insurance limits, I think 100/300/100 min./but if you have any assets at all, you already do that right ?

It came down to me putting about $25K down on the Vet to buy it and have the same payment per month for the 42 month lease term, or lease it with none of my money out of pocket.
Residual on the car (still have it) is $27k and change at end of term, that is what convinced me to lease it....
If I had put that $25K into even a 2.5% Cd for 42 months I am pretty sure I could buy the car if I wanted to, or not deal with selling it and just turn it in. But my money is "liquid" and not stuck in a car.

The art is to get a "good" lease, there are bad leases and good ones....Look at the money factor-
it is a kind of "lease interest" and multiply it by 2400, it gives you an approx. interest rate they are charging you on the money.
So, money factor of say .0021 X 2400= about 5% , not bad interest. Remember you are paying interest on the whole amount of the purchase price.
Bad thing is, getting out of a lease early is a killer.....
You will likey have to pay thousands to get out from under if you get out after a year or two.
But this is not as bad as it sounds, even though it is bad for your money loss, remember if you buy the same car and pay all the tax, plus depreciation, and you have put say $15-20K down payment on a car you bought you will likely not recover near your down payment, I bet real close to getting out of lease cost. There are of course exceptions to all this.

In my case, not putting $$ into the Vet gave us funds to invest in rental real estate, or you could put it into something else you think you can make money on.

Good luck in whatever you do.

BTW- The MB dealer is not going to believe the rates you can get-just log on the leasecompare site, punch in your car, and tell them to match it.
And no, I do not work for this company, and there may be better deals out there than this co. , I use it for reference.
