Exclamation CLK 240 Audio 10 Question

I recently (last month) purchased a 2002 W209 CLK 240 with factory (Becker) Audio 10 installed. The mute button operates normally in FM mode but will not mute in CD pack mode. Dealer suggests that this is normal - I have a problem believing this.

As I am new to this vehicle I would welcome any wisdom on this issue !

Thanks in advance

Howdy !

I'm a fellow Dub, living on the northside ! I have a '03 Kompressor with the same audio set up. What the dealer says is quite true and was the same on my previous '01 C-Class !

Audio 10 mute problem

Ben

If I install a bluetooth car kit, will this mean that the mute will only be effective in FM Radio mode - if this is so then that's really not very impressive.

The mute line on the back (for the phone kit) will operate in all modes, unlike the mute button.

That's an easy problem to resolve... all you need to do it to get a Comand from Steve, the mute will mute off all the sound from any source

Just kidding but seriously, the Comand will make your car feel like a real Merc, at least the luxury side of things.

Cheers,
Ho

Unfortunately the command supply & install will cost an absolute fortune in Ireland - MB dealers here rip you off on purchase, parts & service.

Thanks for the feedback.

HAHA, typical Merc spare parts around the world huh?... well, you need to do what I did and do some research on this forum and search for "MBenzNL and Comand" because he can ship you a Comand right to your door at reasonable price...

No the mute function is hard coded with pin wiring. So long as the BT kit makes contact with the back of the radio then it will mute.

Talking Bite the Bullet

I actually bit the bullet and installed a COMAND courtessy of SteveNL (Cheers Steve) - there is quiet a difference between an Audio 10 and a Comand - even the sound quality is superb. I had a job getting the steeler to install correct and SteveNL is still assisting this remotely.

On the disk side the United Kingdom/Ireland 2004/2005 DX disk is actually only a 2004 nav disk so beware - TeleAtlas report a release date of mid 2005 for the updated version.

The mod virus has indeed struck !

BTW - Anyone want a slightly used Audio 10, please PM me.

In addition, any Comand users in Dublin should be aware that the latest Navdisk from TeleAtlas does not include the impact of LUAS in Dublin - in fact to a visitor this disk could represent a hazard !
