Water vapor in headlights

Last weekend, I went out for a drive after I had washed my car and turned the lights on as it was getting dark. When I got home, I realized that water vapor had formed on the inside of the left headlamp assembly. I took it in to the shop today and complained about it. They did a test on my car: Wet the whole front end thoroughly and turned the lights on for a few minutes. Sure enough, the same thing happened. Only this time, the right side was misty too! No questions asked, they're replacing both Bi-xenon headlamp assembly free of charge! (Can you believe, those lamps cost 1500 bucks a piece! ) Anyway, you guys should run this simple test too. Maybe it's happening more than we know, like the trunk lid brake light that keeps cracking! Truth is, I'm a little disappointed at the quality of our cars

Had a BMW with the exact same problem. It seems to be fairly common and not unique to MB.

Cadet,
Your's is a 04 and should be under warranty. Your dealer should change it it free too. But I'm not sure if its only happening to Xenons, but either way, it should still be covered.

Was just looking at the board for my wife's Lexus RX330. People there are having the same problem with fogging.

Just got my car back. Complete with a brand spankin' new pair of Xenons. They changed the rear decklid brake light too. Wonder how long this one will last.

You know, that's a good idea. I just assumed it would be alright.
Better do it before my warranty expires in Jan 05.
