Buying CLK500 Cab, Need Advice
My heart is set on ordering a brilliant silver, silver ash interior cab with a ash top. The dealer recommended NOT to order the ash top and go with either blue or black claiming that the ash top will show a lot more dirt and hard to get out stains due to bird droppings etc.
I like the ash top because it gives the car more of 1 color look (silver/ash/ash). I've also seen silver/ash/blue top and that looks pretty cool. Silver/ash/blck top is okay but in my opinion breaks up the color lines more so than the silver/ash/blue or silver/ash/ash look.
Any opinions or thoughts on this would be appreciated, especially from those who already own the silver/ash/ash combination.
This is my 1st MB, having come from a long legacy of BMW's and I'm really excited about making the right decision.

I would rather have a top that contrasts the car's color, rather than a top that does not match exactly. Trust me the Black top on Silver will look WAY better than a slightly faded, unmatching ash top. Just my opinion though....

2003 CLK430 Cabriolet
go with ash top. a co-worker who parks right next to me has a 2000 CLK430 vert with one. she bought it new and has outdoor parking at home, so it's always outside. 5 years later, the top looks fine. and it's a STRIKING combo. would have gotten it myself, but that may have been a little weird pulling up next to her with the same color combo.

I had the same dilemma. I went with the ash after seeing both in the flesh. The black top breaks up the lines of the car and sticks out IMHO. The ash top blends in better. The ash top was darker than I expected. After 3 months I don't have any permanent stains. However, I have had 3 marks from birds and trees which came off easily with car wash and mitt.
My car is diamond silver with Ash. Attached pics are brilliant silver with ash and diamond silver with black - sorry the diamond/black is a bit dark.

CLK 200 KOMPRESSOR Elegance
Definitely the ash top looks sharp. I've never seen any colour over here otrher than black or navy and I would have avoided anything else anyway due to the high maintenance risk, although my old Pagoda SL has a black top its real easy to keep !
However since the other owners have reported good things I will consider a light top for my next car which I hope will be a cab.
