CLK55 at Donnington Park Race Circuit, UK
Hi everyone
I'm a new poster having followed these newsgroups for some time.
I'm a commited, long term MB owner and have just placed an order for the new CLK55. No.28 in the UK.
Imagine my excitement when I was able to see this new model 'in the flesh' when I made a special trip from Guernsey, in the Channel Islands (my home) up to Donnington Park in the UK to watch the visiting German Touring Cars.
I had a 'hunch' that MB would take the opportunity of 'showcasing' this new model as they use the 2003 CLK bodyshell for racing and I was'nt disapointed.
I have attached a few images (I hope!).
I've several more if your interested.
I would also be happy to discuss my impressions.

i have already driven the CLK500 AVANTGARDE, and i have to admit... I WAS IMPRESSED!
I can only imagine what the experience on the 55 will be like. We should be getting our first consignment in by mid july.
Does the a CLK55 sound anything like the SL55 when floored around the circuit? Cause the SL55 has a growling tune to it when pushed around!

man they look too much alike. come to think of it, all the new models are beginning to look way too similar to each other. in that video of the clk55, there was a moment where i thought it was my c32.

last march, i was at the malaysian F1 grand prix. And obviously they were showing off their all new SL55 AMG safety car around the circuit.
I was shocked when i heard it go around the track!!
It sounded sooooooo american!!! Like a mustang or something like that!!!!
Not impressed at all!!

the CLk55 sounds like an american muscle car too...my friend has one. well, not the new one.

i'm sorry but i don't agree with you.
the CLK55 AMG (208) does not sound like an american muscle car. It has a nice howl to it when you floor the pedal.
However, that howl still sounds german to me my friend!

arab men singers sing like women... don't ask me why! I think it sucks! Maybe its in the blood... LOL!!
There are alot of things i dont agree with.. like for example:
1. A convertible corvette being driven by a guy in a bloody dress and the sh*t they wear on their heads blowin away in the wind. And oh yeah.... imagine trying to shift wearing sandles!!! DUDE!!!!!
2. An Osama look-a-like in a Modena 360!!!!
3. A covered up lady in a CL55 AMG!
Late at night.. when going back home, if i take the freeway... at an average speed of 160 kmh... i should make it to my driveway in about 7 minutes!!! And thats driving back home from the Capital City! What do u think?
Wanna hear something really strange? Multiply that time by 3, and i should be in AL KHOBAR ( SAUDI ARABIA )

Andrew, thanks for the pics. The CLK55 AMG is growing on me even more so after seeing these pics. I like how the rear spoiler smoothes out the downward sloping appearance of the rear-end. The 18inch AMG wheels on the car is fine (size and styling wise), except the car needs to be lowered atleast an inch or two for a more aggressive stance.
More pics would be a treat
