Thumbs up on the Dallas Tollway (just a quick AMG story)
Well I squeeze the right pedal and squirt around the car ahead of me to pull up next to the black roadster and give him the thumbs up. I get the immediate thumbs up back (I have a CLK55) and a big grin from the driver. Both of us flank and blow past somethinig non-memerable in the center lane and pop-it up briefly over a 100. The SLK leading and I'm his wingman (both floored!).
It was a short little run (nothing prolonged - just a display of power to the traffic that was trailing us), but I bet it looked pretty cool to the cars behind us to have two black as night Benz's start hookin' it down the tollway.
It got a giggle out of the girlfiend, a "you boys", and a roll of the eyes.
She loved it

BTW i used to live in Plano and i once failed a 99 Turbo all the wayt from downtown dallas to Windhaven Exit on the tollway.. (thats where i lived) *** sweet at 12AM
I have let her drive it. We went to Denton to a Nissan rally sponsered by Throttle Position Motorsports:

I needed her to drive the 55 so I could bring both cars. It was kinda cool watching my car haul ***.
We had Motorola 2-way radio's going down the freeway so it was a lot of fun. I don't think gurlie wanted to hand back the keys! At first she was REAL timid and scared (it's my garage queen), but after about 15 minutes I had to keep talking her back down under 80 mph!

You should bring the 55 to the BMW Club meet on Saturday. It's at Pappa's BBQ on NWY Hwy from 3-5:30. I usually get there by 4pm. I love it when "other" nice cars show up...we had a old Skyline GTR show up two months ago.
you are very very lucky...and i envy you so much haha..cherish what you got bro!

From I35 south: stay to right at the loop 12 split and exit Nwy Hwy. Turn left (east) on to Nwy Hwy and it's on your left before you cross under I35.
From I35 north: Exit Nwy Hwy and turn left (west) and it's on the right a few blocks up.
From the tollway (not the way I would get there): Exit Nwy Hwy, go west for a while and it will be on the right after you cross under I35.
The black car w/ Fikses in my pics lives in Plano off Parker near the Tollway

BTW we have the keys to her car...hehe...my brother is driving it these few days since his own car is in shop...the sad part is my sister can't drive her own 2000 CLK320 because my brother drive the car to his friend's house and made a switch a roo and drive back his friend's car instead of my sister's car....hehe....anyway...long story...
(both have the same option, both white, one is grey and one is charcoal inside, and seperated by 2 years)

I'm in a silver CLK55 BTW. Lemme know if there are any local gatherings and I'll try to pop in.

So here i am minding my own business, while this guy want trouble! He drove slow so i would end up on his tail.. and every time i tried to signal slowly and overtake.. he would floor it again.
I wasnt interested! But just out of curiousity... would he have kicked my *** BIG TIME if i had called his bluff??
The M3 would not "Kick your *** BIG TIME".
Actually, they are so close it's difficult to know which car would win. Some guys have raced and the CLK won, a few others the M3 won...none of the wins for either were by a big margin. The problem with the CLK is traction down low (small tires, tons of torque, ESP system that cannot be 100% disabled). The M3 on the other hand would need an expert launch from a driver who doesn't make shifting mistakes, even the SMG drivers can blow a shift by shifting too early to hitting the rev limiter. So I'd say you have a 50/50 chance of winning this race.
Lincoln - any runs down to Ennis? I want to try launching the car again in the quarter and try to improve my times

I've been told my car was a special order for a guy that "knows" someone at AMG. Supposedly (and I stress "supposedly", I dunno how to confirm) after the car was completed at MB, it was sent back to AMG for furher work.
I do know that if I stomp on it from a standstill with ESP off the tires don't catch till partway into 2nd gear. ESP stays off. I'm told it's SUPPOSED to re-engage. I also know there is no speed limiter.
Again, I dunno how much of this is true. Just thought I'd ask to see if anyone could think of any ways to confirm any of this.
I've been to Motorsport Ranch a couple of times, but I haven't tried the dragstrip yet. I don't think I've been to a dragstrip in about 12 years since I sold my Supra and Corvette got too fragile. I'd be willing to give it try again.

Lincoln - I was just looking at motorsportranch.com - looks like they still do the country club dues.

If I had an extra set of track tires I might try the NASA event in August ($225). Hmmm I still need to put the supension on the Nissan - http://members.aol.com/sentraclassic/FedEx1.jpg
Ugh - too many unfinished projects
Texas Motorplex has some open events during the weekend where we should be able to run street cars - http://www.texasmotorplex.com/calendar/
Definately a cheaper option than road racing - but a long time sometimes between runs (maybe leave with 3-6 that day depending on how many show up)
