I had gotten these 2001 sales # for the United States from Mercedes-Benz USA.
CLK 55 AMG: 1034 cars
CLK55 AMG Cabriolet: 521 cars
MBCA Star had an article saying 2001 clk 55 worldwide production was over 2000 cars.

I wasn't sure when 2002 clk55 production would stop, so I haven't asked yet. Here is what I got from the mbusa site. You can email them or call the number.

'02 CLK 55 cabrio (sold), '03 C32 (sold), '04 R32 (sold), '04 911/X-51 (keeper)
I'm also the impression that the CLK 55 cab was only sold in North America for the 2002 model year. I've heard that some were produced in very limited, i.e., single digit, numbers by AMG for select European customers. But mass market for the US would only be 2002. Pretty exclusive ride.

When I asked about production numbers, my question to MBUSA was:
"What are the overall 2001 production numbers for the CLK55 for the U.S. and for total production?
As I read it now, it looks like the answer was for the calendar year and not the model year. It should be a correct number, but not the one I really wanted.
My dealer also said there was no 2001 CLK55 cab.

production #s
I'd love to know the whole run for the CLK55 by year - anybody on the list work for MB?
I can see 521 "2002" cabs being made in calendar year 2001...remeber the 2001 CLK55 started hitting the US in sept 2000... so maybe it is a accurate number?

All of them, as much as I can...
I was told 521 CLK55cabs in the 208s and that's it.
When they came out in 11/01 , my dealer was getting 20 over list! I got the last one in Feb. I'm researching serial#s to confirm production run sequence.
I leased the car and figuring out if I should buy it at lease-end. My dealer said they'd take the car back anytime during the lease, no penalties. Mmmm...maybe I should stop driving this car and mothball it, might do better than the stock market
