I was testing how the third gear pulls on my clk 55 and I accidentally hit the limiter. The car's power retard. I know the fuel pump shutdown for a while. Then the check engine came out. I called tele aid and they told me it could be a bad gas. It's so happened that I filled up tank at that time. I used chevron 91. Any comments or experience on this one.
P.S.
The third gear on this car pulls like a train.

Out Of Control!!
It most likely could be bad gas, but I would suggest going to the dealership to have them scan the fault code anyways.

I have a CLK320 (a lowly machine compared to yours) but i actually put it in 3rd and the rpm needle went near the max and my car rattled like crazy then i immediately put it back into 4th and then 5th then it was smooth again...it the sudden rattle scared the heck outta me that i jolted the steering wheel causing me to accidently veer into another lane, good thing the road was empty.
Yeah, i know 3rd pulls like a train, but for my car it pulls for two seconds before the car starts shaking...is it suppose to do that?

Goldeni245,
If you hit the rev limiter (in any gear), it will seem highly unusual....similar to the feeling when your ABS engages...
Normal. Nothing to worry about

Just got out of the dealership. They checked for engine misfires. They say it's just a bad gas. I even told them that I over reved on the third gear. They didn't comment on what I've said. They just said everything works out fine.
Burat,
Glad to hear it all worked out.
What type/brand of fuel are you running?

Here in Georgia, I guess we're lucky. The "hi-test" is 93 octance rated. I usually use Texaco or Chevron.
There's even a station down the road that carries stock car fuel (100 pump octane).....but it's about $3.50 a gallon
