Do you still love your CLK?

I'm co-organizing a Mercedes-Benz Club event for next weekend and have been working on the "afternoon drive" portion of the event for the past two months or so, along with another AMG-brother.

Yesterday, I "ran the route" one last time, making sure all the directions were correct so as to not get anyone lost, make certain mileages were correct, and that the drive had a nice "flow" to it. This time, I took the CLK55 and man-o-man.....

I AM STILL IN LOVE WITH THIS CAR!

After three years and 21,000 miles of ownership, this car still amazes me. Plenty of power, great grip and pure luxury continue to keep me enamoured with my W208 AMG. The car has awesome brakes, endless grunt with 376 lb.-ft. torque and could handle everything I threw at her, while maintaining a comfy 72 degrees in the cabin. The engine barely registered any increase in heat, despite some enthusiastic driving. It's no manual, but the touch-shift transmission is a gem to use for the North Georgia mountain roads.

During my 102-mile run, I barely encountered any other cars on the road, making the trek that much more enjoyable. I can't wait to do it again this Saturday!

Chappy ... well said!

Wish I could join you this weekend ... I have prior commitments.

Maybe the next one ... and I did read your post on the other thread ... I am looking into a possible "Rally" in my "jurisdiction" ... there are areas within the unincorporated part of the county which would meet our driving enthusiasm ... and we would not be risk to the general public.

Give me time to work the particulars ... :v

Just got mine in May, so yup!
One bonus I didn't realize with the designo mocha paint is that when it gets a little dirty, the silver flecks in the paint help hide it so it doesn't look bad at all. With my old black cosmos m3 the car looked dusty 20 minutes after it got washed.

Hey Steve...

As I usually don't get the Peachtree newletter til the events have passed, do you have something fun going on this weekend? It's just about been too hot to get the Cab out...but she does need some exercise. Hope you're doing well.

I completely agree with you Chappy - performance and feature-wise our cars are awesome. On top of that, they look great from so many angles - I really enjoy just looking at my (our) car even when it's just sitting still. The curves, the subtle crease along the outside edge of the front fender, the way the curve of the hood fades from the top of the headlights back towards the windshield, that PHAT C-pillar area above and just ahead of the rear wheels that blends into our low-raked rear glass and just the overall THICKNESS of the car. Love the CLK

I've only owned mine for 6+ months now and have only put 1862 miles on it in that time, but I gotta agree with Chappy ... I LOVE THIS CAR

I just love being able to punch it and hear that throaty roar and feel the acceleration ... the idea that you can go much faster quickly when you need that quick burst of acceleration, yet still let off the gas as you hit the speed limit (OK ... 75 or 80 ) a few seconds later ... I love the tightness and the feel of gripping the road and the responsiveness of the steering ... and of course I love how it looks, both inside and outside ... and how well-made it is, how the seats fit me just right ... and the way it cruises so nicely on the highway, how it feels like a driver's car - the ONLY thing I don't like is how (relatively) low the front end is, I'm not used to it and I've already have had two bad encounters with those concrete blocks at the end of parking spaces

(I got whistled at by girls half my age driving down Bel Air Drive towards Sunset Blvd. in Bel Air on Friday ... lol ... little did they realize I was sorta lost, the Nav wasn't on at the time )

I've had my 208 for over 5 years, put 108k miles on it, and haven't bought a car to replace it because nothing has come along that I like better.

Since my car has brought my so much enjoyment, I decided to reward her with a supercharger, which will be going on this week. :0) Now she'll keep me happy for a long time to come :0)

I was actually part of the recent focus group that was evaluating the concept car for its replacement.

I signed a bunch of non-disclosure stuff so I can't really talk about it, but I will say that if this design makes it, the girly look is out and the musclecar look is back.

i've had my car for 4 years now and only 24K miles on it mainly because it's in the shop most of the time. with all it's problems, i still love the car. the look of it is second to none. hasn't seen too many new models out there worth replacing it with.

i've only had mine for about 2 months now, but everyone here has it right, it's still the nicest looking benz on the road, i agree the only car i would replace it would be the CL but that's a few years down the road . . . the aggressive look and feel as well as the power that comes with every AMG, but the W208 has always been and always will be my baby . . . i get looks and compliments all the time on the car and that's when you know it's got the look . . .when you're cruising down the street and heads turn as you "fly by"
